About this listen

Settling down for a 24-hour flight to Australia, Lucy finds a text message on her phone - not from her boyfriend James, as she fondly hopes, but from a woman claiming to have slept with him four times in the past month. Trapped on the plane, she questions everything about her relationship with James. She finally calls him and he reassures her: it was only his mates playing a silly joke.

James is a lawyer, persuasive and gorgeous and Lucy adores him. So why, at the wedding in Sydney of her best friend Molly, does she have niggling doubts, and find herself attracted to Molly's brother-in-law Nathan? The sooner she gets back to her regular life in London, the flat she shares with James, her job in PR, the better. Nathan is a happy-go-lucky surfer boy, with no prospects, no place to live, an almost-girlfriend in tow. And the other side of the world...

Lucy - a girl caught between two distant continents - and two very different men...

Brilliant Narrator - Good Story

This was my first Paige Toon novel. I enjoyed the story enough to want to try another of her books. Perhaps I'm the only one who always wonder's when the book ends, what happens to the character for whom things ended badly? Jane Collingwood was a brilliant narrator, very good at a variety of characters voices, and a pleasant voice.

Very Good Book but....

The only thing I didn’t like about it was how Lucy was so wishy-washy at the end when the best choice was so clearly obvious. Her boyfriend was a jerk and didn’t deserve her pity.

where to start?

As with most of the books I listen to these days, it was mostly something to distract me while I get my chores done. I'm not looking for great literary works of art and I don't take them too seriously. But yeesh!

This book was a struggle. Firstly, about a third of it was pointless filler. Way too much detail was put into describing the mundane and her back and forth feelings...I mean, we get it.

Apart from her boyfriend's dishonesty and infidelity, there were obvious reasons why they shouldn't be together.

The main character was pretty unlikeable. I kind of felt the love interest deserved better at times. She strung him along, wouldn't leave her boyfriend, and was caddy towards other women who showed interest.

None of the characters had much depth, so it was hard to connect to any of them. When the love interests did finally get together it was pretty unsatisfying.

Pathetic

What would have made Lucy in the Sky better?

There was no story just a load of garbage about someone who meets a guy in Sydney then spends the entire book talking about him even tho she is engaged to someone else in England. I had trouble listening and just kept skipping until the end.

Has Lucy in the Sky turned you off from other books in this genre?

No just this author

Would you be willing to try another one of Jane Collingwood’s performances?

Yes Jane Collingwood is excellent but the storyline was ridiculous.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No

Any additional comments?

A total waste of time.
