Mana Harvest 2—A Cozy Fantasy Adventure

Six months into his retirement at Oak Tree Farm, former city guard Cid Dawnshield has settled into a comfortable routine of tending crops and serving as Haven's town constable. But when a group of oddly-dressed travelers arrives for the annual Harvest Fair, something about their story doesn't add up.

Between judging the town's fiercely competitive blueberry cobbler contest and trying to wrangle his wandering chickens, Cid has to manage the threat from out of town who just want to the power beneath Haven's soil. All while impressing the tavern owner.

Cid will need more than his old Guard skills to protect his new home. But in a town where magic runs deep and secrets run deeper, knowing who to trust might be the greatest challenge of all.

I had to listen to this immediately after finishing book 1, as it left me completely addicted to this world. I’d start on book 3 right this minute as well, if I could swing it, but I’ll get to it eventually.

This installment maintains the mystery and excitement. Cid is still a bit salty towards the town due to previous events, but ultimately likes it and is quickly becoming ‘one of them’. I also enjoyed watching him become a farmer and fix up his property—truly a fun read, all-around.

Magic flies around freely, there’s humor, fun competition, dangerous battles … it packs it all. I’d love to watch this on the screen in some form: perhaps a limited series would work well.

Seriously, Marcus is one of the best, if not THE best narrator I’ve heard. Excellent. 5-stars performance.

James Falcon and Wolfe Locke do another amazing job with this slice of life story. The second book in the series continues where we left off in book 1 and further develops the MCs, the struggles, relationships, and of course the overall world. I look forward to reading and listening to book 3 in the series! Audio Version: Alexa Roosevelt and Marcus Jahn do another incredible job with the story, characters, and overall narration.

Far from what I expected and definitely distant from the normal fair I consume. The story in my opinion is everything that has sequel should be which is the same elements that made the first book good and then some. The narration team is relatively new to me. The gentleman narrator appears to have improved from the last book in a substantial way. That's not to say that the lady narrator is not talented in her own right. There just to me appeared to be not much need for improvement on her side. The writing is quality, and I am very interested in seeing what comes next. Well done all around.

Moving on with book 2. This was great for my Saturday duties. I listened whiled I mowed the lawn, then some woodworking, around the house repair and a DIY project. This book kept me company the entire time. A great easy going series that you can listen to on autopilot.
