"Just the introductory chapter... is worth a good nineteenths of all the literature the movement produced or inspired." (Arkansas Times)

Humanity’s take with Spirituality

This book is something that every person in America should read. If you have read the Bible then this book will make you understand exactly what it means to experience God‘s love. This book is filled with so much information that I wish could be spread to the entire earth. His ideas are some thing that in 2022 we are striving for. There are wars and destruction going on but this man knew what it would take in order to achieve peace on earth. His teachings were all from Jesus Christ who is someone that was perfect and actually had the answer to all humanities problems. There will be very few people who can truly understand what it means to find the love of God. This man was A true disciple in a modern world. He had his sins just like everyone else but he knew that the world was not perfect and an order for things change we all have to change.

Stunning portrait!

Stunning portrait of King and his era! Frady brings to this project multiple talents. One, he can use the English language. Two, he is flat out the best narrator of all the audible books I've purchased. Three, he is candid and unromantic in his reporting. Four, he takes you there, to the front lines of the movement. I never understood how precarious many of those victories were, and I definitely never grasped how much courage was required to accomplish them. God, do I feel grateful to everyone who stepped up to the plate during that era for what was right! Five stars!

Good reading but doesn't follow breaks of book

This audiobook was the option for a similar title Martin Luther King, a life by Marshall Frady. Though it does follow the book word for word, it does not follow the breaks in the written book the same way. This audio has several different breaks and most occur in the middle of the paragraph of the written book, not the actual book breaks. Given that the audio saves where you stop if you're listening straight through that is not a problem. But if you planned to go back and look at a specific section or chapter it would be difficult to find.

Interesting and informative

This book didn't change my life, but it provided historical detail about a great man and that's what I was looking for. I can't say that I think I have a good sense of MLK's soul, or what made him tick, but I'm glad to know more about his role in the civil rights movement.
