Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Perfect Audible book 4 Spanish learners/bilinguals
This is an excellent audio book and so I highly recommend it.
I am at an intermediate Spanish speaking level and this book really helped me with reading/listening comprehension (I have the book from Amazon). It also helped me with verb conjugations and to see the correct structure of sentences in Spanish.
The audible book was incredibly helpful in helping me brush up on my Spanish! Each paragraph on each page is both written in Spanish, then English. The story is entertaining; it doesn’t get boring to read. I think anyone learning Spanish, or just looking to brush up on it should get this! It’s a very helpful learning tool. I listen to the Spanish, then repeat it as well as I can, then I go back and read out loud along with the audible book. It seems to really reinforce my pronunciation. There are so many new words too, and the author has an amazing glossary of the Spanish in parallel with the English words at the end of the audible book too – so convenient for a review!!! Such a well-designed audible book.
I teach English to Spanish-speaking children and this book is also turning out to be really helpful to my students, who love listening to the reading while following along in the book. The narrator is one of the best in both Spanish (a native) as well as a perfect American accent! I just noted he narrates another Marvelous Maxx book so I am going to get that too! This book would also be great for any family with bilingual parents! The nice thing about listening to this along with the book to children is that the pictures really help it come alive.
