About this listen

Riders in the night hastily arrive at her country estate with a warning. The king is dead. Her own cousin has been named in her place as queen of England and the call for her to tend to her ailing brother is a ploy to imprison her or worse. If she rides to England, it could mean her very life. So begins the story of the reign Mary I.

She is granddaughter to the Most Catholic Kings, Isabella & Ferdinand as well as King Henry VII, the father of the Tudor Monarchy after winning his crown on the Field of Battle. The daughter to the infamous Henry VIII with his first wife, Katherine of Aragon. Sister to Edward VI and predecessor to Elizabeth I. Wife to a King. Her lineage was undeniable, her life too hard and too short. She paved the way as the First Queen Regnant of England for her own sister whose shadow she often lives, and dies in. Mary I gained her patience and strength on a long road which led her to the crown.

Known as ‘Bloody Mary’, painted as a villain, many never know the road that led her to make the hard choices. What made her cling to her faith? What saved her life from Kings who would kill her to have their own way? When family, friends, advisors and countries are against you, what would you do? Was the legendary name truly earned, or bluster to tarnish her legacy, uplifting those who came behind even as they learned from her?

Follow this fact-based Historical drama with the real plots, ploys and faith which drove her. Choose for yourselves if she is deserving of the name she carries through history, or of a little grace.

the accuracy

this was historically correct with lots of drama. It's an eye opener on Mary I and the trials she was to endure which led her to protect herself and her throne.
