I listened to this audiobook over the weekend, thinking about my sister and how she’s been adjusting to having an adult son (my little nephew is all grown up!). Parenting doesn’t just end when kids grow up, and this book really captured that with warmth and practical advice.

I appreciated how it focused on setting boundaries, improving communication, and letting go without losing connection. It’s compassionate and realistic, with helpful examples that made me smile and reflect. I’ll definitely be recommending this to my sister. I think it’s the kind of support many parents could use in this season of life.

Yes it's hard to let go with your children become adults but this book goes through ways we can handle these transitions with grace and hopefully without too much conflict. I particularly liked the real life examples that they used which gave me ideas of ways I could handle similar situations. I'll definitely be reading the other books in the series

You are the parent of your kids for life, so I can't agree more that even if your kids turn adults, parenting is still necessary. The difference is shifting from parenting children to relating to them as adults. This audiobook stands out for its balance of empathy and practicality, helping parents make sense of their evolving role when facing these complex transitions in family life.

This audiobook encourages self-reflection and offers realistic strategies for maintaining healthy, respectful relationships. Listeners will learn how to support their adult children’s independence while maintaining connection, set boundaries without creating distance, and handle disagreements in a way that strengthens rather than strains the bond.

I very much appreciate the part on communication—how to listen without judgment, express concern without overstepping, and build trust as equals. The book also addresses a side of parenting that often gets overlooked: the personal growth of the parent. There’s thoughtful guidance on rediscovering your own identity once the day-to-day demands of parenting ease up.

To be honest, this is actually a practical guide for all parents, regardless of the age of their kids, because one day your kids will become adults too.

I didn’t realize how much my “help” was creating tension with my grown daughter until I listened to this. It gave me the tools to step back while still being supportive. Learning to listen without fixing, give advice only when invited, and respect her space—these were huge takeaways. The author really gets how hard it is to shift roles after two decades of parenting. This book helped me rethink how I show up as a parent, and honestly, our relationship feels more peaceful and respectful now. I wish I had found this years ago.

This audiobook gave me a fresh and much-needed perspective on what it means to parent adult children. In today’s world, it’s become increasingly common for young adults, even with college or master’s degrees, to struggle with full independence. I’ve seen bright, hardworking young people juggling full-time jobs and side hustles just to afford rent in expensive cities. This book acknowledges those realities without judgment and offers solid guidance on how parents can stay supportive without enabling. The author explains when a comforting hug is what’s needed versus when it’s time for a subtle but firm push forward. It’s not just about “letting go,” it’s about shifting into a healthier, more respectful dynamic. Whether you're already navigating this stage or preparing for it, this audiobook is an insightful companion that helps you show up with clarity, compassion, and confidence.
