Publisher's summary

In her warm and witty debut about living with intrusive thoughts and anxiety, bestselling author Hayley Morris shows—with her signature sparkling humor and unflinching honesty—that being an overthinker is both a blessing and a curse. She confronts the funny (if painful) moments that arise when your brain and body refuse to cooperate and your inner voice won’t shut up. No subject is too taboo for Hayley, whether that’s forgetting how to walk when people are watching or the frustrations of dating.

Me vs. Brain is for any listener hoping to befriend their brain, even when it’s “scatty, annoying, and wrong about basically everything.”

Not For Me, But

In truth, I didn't favor this book. I found it to be a little too comical for my taste...not to say I don't like comedy, but... now with that being said, I think it was well written and will strike a chord and help many people.

I've never felt so seen...

I have never felt do heard and understood. GAD, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and overthinking are daily struggles, but make it so you are unable to share it with other people so they understand. so much happens in my brain that I can't even begin to share for fear of what others think. Literally just said, "no matter how hard I try, I can't leave irrational overthinking brain at home....all I really want to do is take a holiday from brain." These words speak to my soul. I am a working mom with GAD and OCD, have a disabled husband who has GAD and well beyond, have a 6 yo son with GAD who doesn't understand any of it yet, a daughter who's parents live with anxiety and OCD, and a sister who's brother has anxiety and anger and more. Brain is such a struggle at times to deal with and shut down. For the first time in my life I really don't feel alone and like I'm the only one. Thank you for writing this book and making the hilarious videos that you do! oh and I'm so happy you performed this book because it just wouldn't be the same!
