The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Some people bounce back in response to setbacks; others break. We often think that these responses are hardwired, but fortunately this is not the case. Stoicism offers us an alternative approach. Plumbing the wisdom of one of the most popular and successful schools of thought from ancient Rome, philosopher William B. Irvine teaches us to turn any challenge on its head. The Stoic Challenge, then, is the ultimate guide to improving your quality of life through tactics developed by ancient Stoics, from Marcus Aurelius and Seneca to Epictetus.

Timeless Wisdom for Modern Times!
This edition breathes new life into the profound writings of one of history's greatest minds, making the timeless Stoic philosophy of Marcus Aurelius accessible and engaging for today's readers.
I was captivated by the clarity and relevance of the text. The modern translation is meticulous, retaining the essence of Aurelius's reflections while making them relatable and easily understandable. This edition truly bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and modern life, offering powerful insights on resilience, duty, and the human experience.
It sets the stage beautifully, enhancing the reader's understanding and appreciation of the meditations that follow. Additionally, the inclusion of a detailed biography and historical context about Marcus Aurelius adds a rich layer of depth, allowing readers to grasp the significance of his writings fully.

Timeless philosophy for a modern audience
I will be the first to admit that the original Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is written in antiquated language and was somewhat difficult to read which made it tough to digest especially for me as a person and student of stoicism. This edition simplifies the out-of-date language from the original text in a way that is modernized and easy to relate to. The narrator himself is relaxing to listen to and I gained valuable wisdom and insight from listening to this version. I plan on listening to it every day alongside my daily journaling practice.

I've done enough reading and study about Stocism to get the big picture, but this audiobook takes you right to the source. It's beautifully narrated, and there is so much great stuff to absorb, I think I'll listen to this a few times over. Good stuff.

Awesome take on modern wisdom
The modern translation made the ancient Stoic wisdom incredibly accessible, and I found myself reflecting on resilience and duty in a whole new light. One particularly hectic day at work, I remembered a passage on staying calm amidst chaos, and it genuinely helped me navigate the stress without losing my cool (like i normally do lol) This book is filled with timeless lessons that resonate deeply. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to gain a fresh perspective on life's challenges.

If you’re a fan of stoic philosophy, the writings of Marcus Aurelius in Meditations are some of the best. It’s a collection of this Roman Emperors life wisdom. It’s interesting to hear how relevant it still is despite having been written two thousand years ago.
