About this listen

Special Agent Edwin Woodriffe was one of the first African-Americans to integrate the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the 1960s. On January 8, 1969, while attempting to apprehend an escaped fugitive, he and partner Anthony Palmisano were mortally wounded, making Woodriffe the first African-American FBI agent to be killed in the line of duty. In a time of racial unrest and civil uprising, the event rocked the Department of Justice and the American people, and inspired one of the most massive manhunts in the history of the nation's capital. This is the story behind the headline.

Captivating

I absolutely loved Memorial Star .
From the second I listened to the prologue, I couldn’t put this book down . I downloaded it thinking I have the entire month of August to finish it or maybe even take it in my upcoming September trip. But that plan failed the second I listened to the prologue.
Not only is this true story full of emotions and colors and incredibly good events, the writer takes you on a journey to the 60s in a very unique and captivating way, it is like you are living it yourself. And the author also narrates the book and she is so pleasant to listen to and has a very good voice and gets very animated when need be and makes the story come alive. I can’t recommend this book enough . 10 stars !!!!
