Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

When Ball Four was published in 1970, it created a firestorm. Bouton was called a Judas, a Benedict Arnold and a “social leper” for having violated the “sanctity of the clubhouse.” Baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn tried to force Bouton to sign a statement saying the book wasn’t true. Ballplayers, most of whom hadn’t read it, denounced the book. It was even banned by a few libraries. Almost everyone else, however, loved Ball Four.

Great Motivational Tool For Parents
I enjoyed this audiobook. I have a family member that has been going through some tough times as his son got hurt in a freak accident while practicing Karate. I mentioned this audiobook to him and how it could help his son build back in confidence to get back at doing what both he and his son enjoy so much. I like how the author builds up the fact that competition is not easy and that winning is not always the ultimate mark of success or not when it comes to competition, that is where the mental toughness discipline comes in. I highly recommend this any parent that is into coaching as well, This gives great insight how to keep the young athletes motivates no matter what talent level is on your team.

Give your kid the extra edge
Like tons of hockey moms out there, I've been in those chilly rinks watching my son get bogged down by self-doubt, totally messing with his game. He's laser-focused on landing a college scholarship for hockey and keeps asking me how he can sharpen his mental edge and stay on course for his goal. So, doing what moms do best, I hit the books for something to boost his resilience.
The book lays out everything from budget-friendly ways to set up a home gym, to smart, safe methods for improving body composition, and it's packed with comprehensive training plans. My son immediately started setting up the home gym. He even got some of his friends to help him and now they can work out at home and still get to hang out together instead of waiting for someone to give them a ride to the gym. I've already noticed a boost in his confidence and so have the coaches. They asked what changed and I let them know we have been working through a book and implementing the various pieces to become more resilient and focused.
For any parent with a kid dreaming big in hockey and aiming to be their best on the ice, this book on resilience training is a total game-changer. It's got the power to transform the way your young player approaches the sport.
