About this listen

What Tales of the City did for San Francisco, Misadventures in the (213) does for Los Angeles in this tale of a struggling screenwriter, his circle of celebrity-seeking friends, and their madcap attempts to make it in "The Biz." Misadventures? What else would you call making off with fish from Tina Louis's koi pond, calling Leeza Gibbons mid-flight to ask who does her headshots, or auctioning off Andrew Shue's chicken-wing and Heather Locklear's lip print for charity? Packed with Hollywood life lessons and more B-level celebs than you can shake a casting sheet at, Misadventures in the (213) is a brilliantly witty romp through the L.A. entertainment machine. And some of it actually happened.©1999 The Publishing Mills Fiction Literary Fiction Literature & Fiction Funny Witty

Terrible audio!!!

Do NOT waste your money or credit on this unbearable book. It sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel. It is the worst sounding book I have ever heard. It is so bad, I thought, surely Audible is not offering a book this poorly produced and I changed headphones, cleaned my Aux jack, then finally started another book just to confirm it was in fact the audio on this particular book. STAY AWAY!!

Poor audio quality

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book is ruined by poor audio quality and poor production values.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Dennis Hensley and Kathy Griffin ?

Yes I would

Horrible - want refund

No Kathy Griffin that I could hear, just Karen Griffin. Terrible sound quality, story very hard to follow. Had to give it one star or couldn't post this review.

Really bad audio quality for outdated fluff story

I originally got this book because I love Kathy Griffin and had just heard "Official book Club Selection." I wanted to hear as much as I could. When I started to listen to it on a plane the audio quality was so bad I could barely keep listening. I was on a long plane ride so I braved it. The story itself was so-so, taking place in the 90's with so many pop culture references to the time it almost felt like a period piece. Even the reference to the "213" is outdated today. It wasn't the best use of my time, but Kathy definitely delivered- in the same way she delivered on Suddenly Susan. Not the best acting, but always fun. She has gotten much better over time. Not sure if the audio can be fixed- but if it can and you're from LA and like fluff- you might enjoy listening to this one.
