About this listen

In many ways, the life of Bethany Decker was not so different from others her age and who shared similar backgrounds. She worked full time as a waitress and attended college at George Mason University, majoring in global environmental change. Sure, she was only 22 and married with one son, just 17-months-old. But that is hardly uncommon. And yes, her marriage was faltering, but even that was hardly unique, especially when married at such a young age to a husband serving repeated tours of duty in Afghanistan. Nothing about Bethany seemed out of the ordinary. Until she disappeared. On January 29, 2011 the young wife and mother vanished and has not been seen since. What happened to Bethany Decker?

I clicked on this by mistake, thinking I was getting the free Dateline Podcast. When I realized my mistake I was okay with it, l, wanting to learn more about this local case. This is a brief listen - sounds like the narrator is reading a newspaper article. She didn’t even bother to learn how to correctly pronounce the bad guys name. She called him, “Emily” throughout which cause some head scratching and confusion for this listener. Mad at myself for actually paying for this! Don’t make the same mistake.
