About this listen

This is a story about a monkey. A talking, wish granting, chain smoking monkey. He's been doing this for a long time, but doesn't quite remember where he came from, why he's a wish granting monkey, or even why is name is Monkey. There are lots of wish granting rules he has to follow. This can be a challenge sometimes, but he doesn't let it bother him as he goes about his life at a zoo near Poughkeepsie, New York. One day, though, his home and master are attacked and life is never the same again. He has to find a new master and sets off on an insane adventure of murder, love, revenge and publishing.

Funny and exciting, the storyline was easy to follow even with time jumps. This is my first time reading from author Dave Chadwick, and I was both impressed and entertained by his writing.

Clever and witty, great writing that kept me entertained throughout.

If you think you know what to expect from this book about a wish granting Monkey, you’re wrong. In the introduction, the author warns you that the story isn’t a comment on the human condition, and that its sole purpose is to entertain. Turns out it’s both.

The characters, plot, and message of Monkey is unlike that of any other comedy/horror/fantasy (or whatever genre you want to classify this as) out there.

I won’t give too much away, but this audiobook is absolutely worth both a credit and your time.

A good funny story but it had bit too much swearing for me. Also I found it odd the chapters were broken up in smaller mini chapters. Great audio performance.

Chadwick writes with 90% dark humor and 10% heart in this title. It was difficult to stop listening at times. His characters are engaging and the plot moves along at break-neck speed.
To be sure, this is an incredibly vulgar story. Not normally my jam, but in this book... it works.
The narration fits the tale perfectly. Wolf captures the feel of the novel perfectly.

I was not sure what to expect getting into this book.
It was weird.
It got weirder, and I loved every minute of it.
This reads like everything I would have wanted from an old school Stephen King style book, that Stephen King in his dotage is no longer able to deliver.
Great little dark comedy that has reinvigorated my hope for indy authors and storytelling.

It’s like if Stephen King was funny, or could finish a story.
