About this listen
She'd left magic behind....
Once upon a time, Elise Sutton had been a powerful witch and paranormal enforcer. Once she'd been madly in love with Fae lord Aidan Greene. But when Aidan had considered his duties more important than their relationship, the love affair ended badly. Shortly after, while on the hunt for a rogue demon, Elise was brutalized and almost killed. Months later, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. To protect her child, and her heart, Elise decided to live a nonmagical life - until she meets Aidan again, and he assumes Dina is his daughter.
When Dina is kidnapped by a racial-purity movement, Elise turns to Aidan for help. The icy facade she has built around herself shatters at Aidan's touch. Together they have to hunt through the human and faery worlds to find Dina... and to discover whether or not they have any kind of chance at a happily ever after.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Should have been a Hit
Would you try another book from Cindy Spencer Pape and/or Gabra Zackman?
No to Ms Pape, Big yes to Ms Zackman
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
this story needed better editing. It read like the author's outline to publisher
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Ms Zackman can not change bad editing.
Was Motor City Witch worth the listening time?
No,and I liked the story, but it just did not work

Series is improving
For fans of urban fantasy, these are a fun diversion. Good, not great, but enjoyable. I am so pleased that they got a much better narrator for this second book.

Sexy Fantasy
I am really digging this series, great characters, creative plots and yummy steam. Each book gets more into the intrigue and draws you into the series. Great mix of supernatural creatures, lovin the Urban Fantasy elements.
Aiden was a favorite from the first book, so I am happy to see his story. Things jump right off at the beginning of the book. I would have liked so sort of prologue to show us their past relationship. I prefer to see things rather than be told about them after.
Elise is a very interesting gal, she has been through a lot. She really had great strength, especially when it comes to her man or her child. I loved her empathy, it really went hand in hand with her healing. It would have been nice to see more of her struggle after the attack, it would have made her growth more impressive.
The dynamic between all the characters is great. The story progresses at a great pace, never a lull. The world becomes fuller and more detailed as the series continues. Love the mixed narrative, you get a much better feeling for the romance when you have both character's POV.
The steam is really delicious, even in the midst of all the drama. I love the yummy smexy action, this series gives plenty of delightful detail. This will seriously warm you up!!
I listened to the audio-book, the narrator, Gabra Zackman, does a great job. She has distinct voices for each character. She does a wonderful job of going with the flow of the story. I will definitely be looking for more read by her!
I can not wait to see the next books, you get hints at the lead couples in them. Next up is a delicious werewolf!!

Motor City Paranormals Unite!
I have listened to all of the Motor City paranormal series thus far, and enjoyed them all. This particular story was both well-written and well performed. Storywise, the pacing was good, and the action scenes well done. While all of these Motor City Paranormal stories are interconnected (characters and an overall arc), this story sets up the meta-arc moreso than the first in the group (which built the world up initially and introduced the range of characters, so it was not deficient by any means). Although those interested should also know that this is a perfectly good stand-alone listen, as are the rest of these stories. The reader was also very good.

Paranormal Romance and Adventure
This popped up as a sale item and it was only when I was about halfway through it I realised it was the second book in a series. Having said that, I was at no time lost when listening to it - there are some nice summaries of what has gone on before when introducing us to characters from the first book. I probably won't listen to the first as I know what has gone on, but I'm popping the next one on my wish list as I enjoyed Cindy Pape's writing. Gabra Zackman was a wonderful narrator too, and I'd be happy to listen to her narrate more stories.

Boooring!
This book was very bland and run of the mill, with like a million uninteresting characters and a silly blend of romance tropes that made me laugh like crazy.
Aidan is a Fae Lord pirate turned corporate raider. *snorts*. He's lived more than 1,000 years but when he finds the "only woman he's ever loved", he's too busy with other stuff and lets her go without a fight. Elise is also supposedly deeply in love but doesn't try to work with Aidan on their issues. Neither ever mentions their feelings to the other so each is left with the thought that the other doesn't love them.
As you can see, neither character acts as if they are really in love. If you really love a person, you don't give up at the first opportunity!
Most of the plot was spent rehashing what happened in the first book and introducing so many characters that it was impossible to determine who was who. The seemingly insurmountable problems that separated these two in the first place weren't even an issue so that tells you that if only they had talked a bit, everything could have been avoided.
The murky issue of Dina's paternity is the author's way of having a secret baby plot without blaming Elise. All I can say is that it didn't work.
The narration was good. I'll listen to another book narrated by Gabra Zackman but definitely not continuing this series.

Horrible
First off let me say this book was so bad I couldn't finish it. The author sets the main character (Elise) up as being the most loving mother ever. But after a few sexual encounters with a former love, Elise forgets she is trying to recover her kidnapped child and is only concerned about her love interest. I realize there should be suspension of disbelief for the reader, but that is going to far. This storyline stinks so bad I can smell it from here.
