About this listen

FNH Audio presents an unabridged reading of Mr Standfast.

In this thrilling adventure, Richard Hannay the star of The Thirty-Nine Steps and Greenmantle, returns to continue his personal battle against the enemies of Great Britain during the Great War.

The war on the continent is raging. The German hordes are pushing the allies back into their trenches, the line is barely holding, and it's at this moment that Richard find himself pulled out of the lines for special duty.

Going against everything Hannay believes in, he finds himself working undercover infiltrating a pacifist organisation. This group is not all it seems to be, as behind the pacifist masks there are German spies and saboteurs.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys early 20th century thrillers and spy novels.

What did you like best about this story?

I appreciated something that is rare in this genre today, the absence of foul language, gratuitous violence and promiscuous characters.

Which character – as performed by Felbrigg Napoleon Herriot – was your favorite?

I liked all of the characters performed by Felbrigg Napoleon Herriot.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It was a little more leisurely paced than he Thirty-Nine Steps and its’ sequel, Greenmantle.

Any additional comments?

Felbrigg Napoleon Herriot has been accused for mispronouncing words. This is a fair accusation; nevertheless, I still like his voice and articulation. I hope that and am waiting for the publishers to release the last two novels in this series The Three Hostages and The Island of Sheep with Felbrigg Napoleon Herriot as the reader.

An Entertaining Novel
