About this listen

Murder 42 was the title of the homemade video that shocked Scottsdale detectives and special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The killer on the video never reveals his face, and with few leads, the FBI doesn't believe they will ever find him. The video falls into the lap of Special Agent Gio Adami, now an Assistant Special Agent in Charge in the prestigious Behavioral Science Unit, and he turns to the one person he knows can help him: Sarah King. The video shocks Sarah to her core and leads her on a bloody quest to find the monster who made it, and to the one place she doesn't want to go: into her own mind. With Murder 42, bestselling author Victor Methos creates a breathtaking thriller taking you from the art galleries of Los Angeles, to the seedy pornography dens of Arizona. Revealing aspects of our society most people know nothing about, he illuminates that place from which all evil stems: the human heart. Great follow up to the first book

I am glad the Sarah King Story continues - and it looks like there will be more. Story was great and the villain is particularly evil. "Virtual Voice" narration leaves something to be desired - lots of mispronounced words and strange inflections. The voice is very realistic and not robotic but the subtleties of the English language are often missing

Good Story - Bad Narration

This book was very slow moving for such a short book it took me forever to get thru it and I had to keep starting it over and over. The AI narrator may have been the problem because of the voice intonations were inappropriate and mispronunciations throughout. Just would have been so much better with a human.

Overall, it was slow and kind of boring in the beginning but I did like the last 2 hours of the book, less the narration.

I am a big fan of Methos, but the last two books have been disappointing, but I will keep the faith in the next ones.

Great story- awful narration

Really enjoyed the next story for Sarah King but the virtual voice is painful to listen to. All other audiobooks by this author are skillfully narrated. I hope this method isn’t used again.

I love the writing and this story. I'm working my way through this writers work.

Virtual voice was way off with inflection. It sounded joyful during traumatic story lines. I rea)y enjoy this writers work. a human could have really added the fear you should be feeling as you listen

Story was good and captivating

Narrator wasn’t the best, it was a bit dull and dry.. robotic and no emotion. If this was an AI reading I missed it in the information

A I narrator.

just started this book. enjoying the story but the A I narration leaves a lot to be desired. The story loses emotion, tone and inflection. Not a fan of A I narration. To top it off, very common names are mispronounced.

Virtual voice ruined the audiobook

Virtual voice couldn’t have been worse. All the audiobooks I’ve listened to by this author had great authentic narrators. This was painful to listen to when being read by virtual voice.

Awful narration

The AI narration was terrible. I couldn’t get passed the flat tone of its voice. Had to stop listening. Too bad because I really enjoy Victor Methos books.

Good story — kept my attention throughout.

The AI voice was simply awful! Monotone, no pauses, no change with character — there were times I didn’t know which character was speaking. If there is an option, I will not listen to another book with an AI narration.

AI generated narration in a word: HORRIBLE

I have listened to hundreds, maybe even a few thousands of audiobooks over the years, and I feel I have a well-seasoned and experienced "ear" for narration quality, most of which I have found to be superb, a few to be above average, and a very few to be only average, but none have been so poorly done that the entire listening experience was ruined. Until this one. I certainly hope AI is not going to become a trend in audiobooks. If so, I will only purchase or listen to those that are read by appropriate and talented humans. This "reader" sounded like a 5-year-old girl. I can't even rate the actual story because the narration was so ridiculous. I have read many of Victor Methos's books and enjoyed them for the most part. I don't know if this book was an experiment or what, but it failed 100% if it was. The story also seemed to have a lot of holes and loose ends, which makes me suspect the story itself was AI generated as well as the narration. I have not read any other reviews so far, but I can't imagine there will be any fans who loved it. My review probably doesn't adequately describe how thoroughly disappointing and downright horrible I felt this book was. I only finished it because I just couldn't believe the author, or any author, would want to put his or her name on something this blatantly bad.. I kept thinking it would surely get better. It did not.
