About this listen

Sometimes life in a small town does not go as planned—including the life part.

James Wilder was looking for a quiet, safe place to escape his former life. A place to walk, garden, and cook, along with his loyal cat. He found it in the charming campus town of Warm Springs. Or maybe not, as he soon finds a cold body floating in the picturesque lake.

The mystery begins as the body is identified as a local real estate agent. Well-liked in town, she had no enemies, except perhaps the jealous husband, the roguish boyfriend, or the shifty business partner. They all have plenty of their own secrets to hide.

As the police quickly sweep the case into the tragic accident file, James decides it is up to him to find out what really happened. The craziness begins as he seeks clues and finds the eccentric older crowd in town helping him. Even his cat chips in to judge the suspect’s character. But others just want him dead.

After putting the pieces together, he confronts the murderer. But his plan falls apart at the last minute and now he’s the next victim. Only a toddy can save him now.
