About this listen
A murder mystery book set in France and England during the late 19th century.
In the enthralling pages of "Murder of a Servant Girl," follow the gripping tale of Harlow and his fortuitous meeting with Baron Le Sage in Paris, which ultimately sets the stage for a complex and riveting murder investigation.
While awaiting the arrival of his friend Hugo Buford in Paris, Harlow is inadvertently drawn into a labyrinthine murder mystery when he encounters Baron Le Sage. A series of seemingly coincidental events—including a peculiar accident involving a hat-sketcher named Jean Ridgway—propels them into a dark investigation that takes them from the vibrant streets of Paris to the ominous halls of the Buford family estate, Wildshott, in England. As Le Sage and Harlow delve into the murder of Ivy Mellor, a servant girl entwined in a web of deception, the story unfolds with rich, period-authentic detail.
Jean Ridgway's tangled life and his dubious claims to the Buford estate, supported by betrayal, jealousy, and fraud, form the core of this engrossing tale. The unmasking of dark family secrets and treacherous identities leads to chilling confrontations and heartfelt confessions. As Ivy Mellor's mysterious death is scrutinized, Baron Le Sage's keen eye for detail and sharp intuition unravel the complex motives that link the past deceptions to present-day treachery. The narrative weaves a tapestry of moral dilemmas, fierce loyalty, and societal critiques, leading to a climax that promises to satisfy enthusiasts of intellectual suspense and period mysteries.

Always love a good mystery!
At times it bit hard to follow, as the same voice is used for all of the characters.

Virtual Voice
I liked the story line but definitely not a fan of virtual
voice. It’s to monotone & makes me sleepy. It also lacks emotion in the story.
