About this listen
I never wanted my dad to remarry. The idea of replacing my mom seemed absurd to me, but he went ahead and did it anyway. I don't know how he could have possibly have ever thought that I would accept them into my world, though. I didn't want a new mom, and I certainly didn't want a step brother stealing away my only living parent's attention. I vowed to myself on the day that they got married that I would always be better than him, that I would always outshine my step brother in every way that I could, so that my dad had no choice but to look at me.
Life doesn't always go to plan though, and I know that know. Things change, and so do people. The only things that are certain in life are what have passed and even then, no one person could ever truly understand the whole story. That's how I lost the man I loved. That's how I lost the person who I'd never accepted as a brother, but had always been family to me, and now I need to find a way of getting him back.

*************spoiler alert***************************
Yes paul was a billionaire but he wasn't cocky at all. he was just mean to her because she never called him in 6 years after breaking his heart. thats not cocky that is simply bitter. the author missed the mark of cocky for lack understanding of what that word means or she just wanted to capitalize on the cocky trope to get readers like me. I say the latter more than the former since as a writer she has a firm grasp of words.
The story needs a lot more work and character development. the FMC went from hating his guts to all of sudden yes i love him but i am too scared to say it after he says he wants me and loves me. it was such an unrealistic flip that i doubt it the entire time.
also paul sees all this greatness in a crappy person? I don't get why he is so in love with someone who hates him to much. wish the author could have shown his pov and developed the story to show us what he sees.
Really they are both crappy for what they did to their grieving father by abandoning him at the repass with the MMC girlfriend to hook up. It could have waited until after service when dad is dealing with swarms of people wanting to comfort him. It pretty intense to deal on your own when you are too broken up to even plan the funeral. Okay so they hooked up during the repass at least hurry back after you get off.
It cut off before we see the gf again but i hope she skinned them alive lol.
the narrator didnt do a bad job but why have a male do a book 100% from a female mc in first person? I had a heard time remembering it wasnt dual pov i kept thinking its paul speaking and then i was like oh yeah it the girl. only the girl. Its hard connecting to a female character when the voice is a man. narrator is not bad just not a good choice for this book.

Narration (which may party be the fault of the writing) was choppy and void of emotion.
It had promise...
