About this listen
A love story that proves that sometimes, the most broken people make the strongest bonds.
When vows to love and to cherish, shatter.
Abby’s no stranger to the pain secrets, and lies can inflict on the person trying to hold it all together. She hides behind a forced smile and the hope that one day she’ll be able to find happiness again. After suffering from domestic abuse at the hands of her husband, Abby makes a split decision that alters the trajectory of her life forever. That decision leads her to cross paths with Dawson, a devastatingly handsome but troubled physical therapist who’ll do everything he can to save her. He’ll stop at nothing to ensure Abby’s life doesn’t end in the same fate his sister’s did.
Desperate to leave her husband before his violence turns fatal but too stubborn to accept the help of another man, will Abby be able to get out in time to save her own life?
With hearts tangled and lives at stake, can Dawson keep the beautiful art teacher from ripping off the cage he’s surrounded his heart with? Or will they allow their unmistakable chemistry to ignite, giving in to the forbidden relationship?
In the darkest moments, hope can be found in the most unlikely places.

Story
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

Liv’s happy with life in her thirties. She has two cats, one BFF, and no boyfriend, which is just how she likes it. Plus, she loves working at a not-for-profit software company where she can be her authentically autistic self. This is her happy ever after. But when her beloved firm merges with a repulsive rival, Liv finds herself competing with her sort-of-ex for the top job. Sure, Finn had been Liv’s best friend, with his nerdy good looks and their shared love of Tolkien, but there was that one night, their song, and … well, she doesn’t like to talk about it.

Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Raw, emotional and healing
As someone who has dealt with DV, as a survivor and a supporter, this story was incredibly healing. Not only is the plot fully laid out, the characters well developed and the narrators wonderfully talented, but the emotion in this story spoke volumes. Knowing how it is to love someone who hurts you, it took a long time for me to understand why it took so long to leave. But the author, Katie, explained through this novel, beautifully might I add, how and why it can be so difficult, the emotional toll it can take on a survivor and the lasting effects, along with the growth and strength only survivors can understand. To be able to voice this kind of emotion and still be able to write a story that sucks you in, and to throw in a twist, takes a special kind of talent. I absolutely loved listening to this and the narrators did fantastic bringing life to the story. I would absolutely recommend. Easy 5 stars.

This is such a hard, but great and beautiful read/listen. I unfortunately connected to this, but that only made me like it more. I absolutely hated Frank, but that’s because Katie wrote such a great bad guy. I loved watching as Abby and Dawson heal together. I appreciate that they took their time getting to know one another and didn’t immediately sleep together. Katie does a great job with an extremely hard topic. Absolutely recommend, just make sure to put your mental health first.

An amazing story
I read the book but to hear the words hit hard. Abby suffers at the hands of Frank and it takes a horrible accident and Dawson to help her see she deserves better. This is a story that hits you hard but also offers inspiration and I love that.

Youll have to hear it to believe it.
When i first read this story, I fell so deep for both characters. Now to have a voice with the name, it's so much better!!!

Great story
Please read trigger warning before you start the story cover a ton of heavy subjects. The story was amazing overall and great read with some very sad parts but with some very happy parts as well. They story is definitely one that stay with you. Abby and Dawson had a great relationship it was nice to see how they helped each other. As much as I enjoyed the story I had to give it a 4 star rating. My issue was with the pronunciation of certain words during the audio. Both narrators gave a great performance and you felt their emotions as you listened along. Great read that will make you feel all the happiness and sadness.
