About this listen

Dare to fall in love.

Scotland, 1812: rugged Highlander Graeme's loyalty to his clan means that their enemies are his own - even when that includes his neighbor, the Duke of Lattimer. It's a fight he doesn't relish, but when Graeme's reckless younger brothers foolishly kidnap Lattimer's younger sister, all bets are off.

Lady Marjorie Forrester may be aligned with the enemy, but capturing her puts Graeme squarely in the middle of a war. If he turns Marjorie over to his clan chief, she could be killed. If he lets her go, his brothers could face prison. In addition, the woman can't stop trying to civilize the lot of them! What's a Highlander to do, then, but keep the stubborn lass close...and explore the unexpected passion that develops between them? But how can Graeme protect Marjorie and his brothers when both Lattimer and his own clan are on the warpath - and will do whatever it takes to tear these two star-crossed lovers apart, in My One True Highlander, the next No Ordinary Hero Scottish romance from New York Times best-selling author Suzanne Enoch.

Well written; well performed.

I love Suzanne Enoch’s writing. She is a masterful storyteller. Flora MacDonald has a very feminine voice but when she does the male voices, they sound like it, and I suspect with a name like MacDonald, she was born to speak the Scottish brogue as well as Gaelic. This is an excellent pairing. Well done all around.

I enjoyed the narrator. A great Scottish accent. I had no problem differenting the characters voices . The writer did a wonderful job with the story line. Loved the strong family ties and love . lots of laughter. Second time I listened I'll listen again to the entire series.

top read for me in 2017

Read/Listened for Fun (Kindle/Audible)
Overall Rating: 4.75
Character Rating: 5.00
Story Rating: 4.50

Audio Rating: 5.00 (not part of the overall rating)

Quick Thoughts: This is a top read for me in 2017. The book had it all: it was funny, emotional, and I loved all the characters. There were so many things that fired on all cylinders to come together for a very engaging read. The romance between Graeme and Marjorie was swoon-worthy but it is honestly his brothers that kind of steal the show! So worth the read :)

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Flora MacDonald / Length: 10 hrs and 32 mins

I love Flora's narration of this series. She puts a bit of fun and spunk into the characters and really brings them to life!

What a story!

Have I said before how much I love Mrs Enoch’s writing and the how she tells you the story? Or her characters that you even get to love too!? Or how Mrs MacDonald narrates the book staying in character and all? They are both amazing!
I really enjoyed this story. You fall in love with the little “Duckling”, Marjorie and Graeme! It’s like…”wait! I want more! Please, what happens then? LOL
We have to use our imagination and dream on it. How aséis that?
So, I know you will love it too!

It was okay, audio narration is great!

Story continues as a little hard to follow at first. And it started off a bit slow and dragged out. But it did pick up a bit.
It’s no outlander!! But a cute story.
