About this listen

Xavier and Clara kissing in a tree....

When your best friend growing up is a girl, that’s the song your classmates taunt you with over and over again. But it was never like that…until now.

It’s always been Clara and me. She’s the only one who truly knows me. After I was drafted into the NFL and ended up the starting quarterback for the San Francisco Kingsmen, I begged her to come with me. But she had her own life and responsibilities back in our small Alaskan town, so I didn’t fault her for staying.

We remained the best of friends despite the distance. I’d hang with her in Alaska during the off season, and she’d visit me in California while I was playing. Then, one night the lines blurred for the briefest of moments and set in motion a series of events that changed everything.

I’m not proud of the decisions I made after that fateful night, and I plan on making amends, because I need Clara back in my life. But not as my best friend—as my everything.

finally Clara and Xavier story evolves

for so many books I have been waiting to. hear why those two were no longer talking to each other. A scary little boy that gets reminded of what is important in life. But the mist beautiful part is towards the end when they watch the Video from when they were 7 years old, so touching.Loved this outcome!

More Greene family

I have really enjoyed all of the Greene family series. I like the family dynamics and the romance. This is a friends-to-lovers romance. It’s not my favorite trope, so this story was just 3.5 ⭐️ for me. Narration was great.

Xavier + Clara = Swoon!

It's been a long wait for Xavier and Clara's story and it did not disappoint. Best friends since kindergarten, they've endured years of questions and assumptions about their relationship. They were one another's confidante, biggest supporter, and best friend, but they never crossed that line... until one night two years ago. Xavier's reaction the morning after led to a two year estrangement, which left them both at a loss and missing one another, but unable to move past it. It's when Xavier's teammate begins pursuing Clara, along with some not-so-gentle nudges from his family, that Xavier realizes that Clara has always been the one. Unfortunately, his epiphany comes just as Clara decides it's finally time to set her feelings aside and move on.

I'm a sucker for the friends to lovers trope (it's one of my favorites), and Piper Rayne did it justice here. It took a lot for Xavier to move past his own fears but once he did, look out. This guy was going to woo his girl! I loved Clara's strength and her sense of self-worth. Her determination to live her own life and dreams and not lose them in the glare of Xavier's fame as a professional football player showed how truly grounded she was. The inclusion of so many of the extended Greene family was icing on the cake.

One of my favourites of the series

It was great to be back visiting the Greene family in Sunrise Bay, Alaska. I have to say I have been waiting for Xavier and Clara’s story and as I expected it was worth the wait. In fact I think that My Scorned Best Friend has become my favourite of the series and since I love all these books, that is saying something.

I love friends to lovers stories. Xavier and Clara have been friends for years until something happened that tore them apart. The family have all tried to find with no success. Can these two come to terms with the past and in doing do find a lasting love? First they need to communicate with one another and listen to what the other has to say. If they can do that then they have a fighting chance.

Aaron Shedlock and Holly Warren did a fabulous job with their narration. Their voices are easy to listen to and added to my listening pleasure. Their narration did justice to the characters and the wonderful story that Piper Rayne created.

The story was fast paced, witty and entertaining and I held me captive from the first to the last word. As always the family is all up in one another business, everyone having an opinion which made for an entertaining read.
As I have come to expect from a Piper Rayne novel, there was plenty of fun and laughter with equal parts of romance and love. Ticking every box this book was a little gem and one I highly recommend.

Everything I expected and more

I love my visits to Sunrise Bay, Alaska, I love the Greene family and this was the book I have been anxiously waiting for. All I’m going to say is Xavier and Clara’s story did not disappoint it was everything I expected and so much more.
Aaron Shedlock and Holly Warren did a wonderful job bringing this book to life. The narrators were spot on and very easy to listen to.
Xavier and Clara have been best friends since kindergarten, they shared all the important firsts but one night changed everything and for the last two years these two could barely be in the same room as each other. So can these two built fences, can they reconnect and more importantly can they finally admit how they really feel…..
My Scorned Best Friend ticked all boxes because it’s a sweet yet steamy romance with all the feels, it’s witty, it’s romantic but my importantly it’s a journey about two friends going back to basics and connecting once again. No visit to Sunrise Bay would be complete without Ethel and Dori making an appearance and giving us more than a few laughs but that only adds to the overall entertainment. This book is about family and friendships and of course love and I highly recommend this entertaining read. A wonderful addition to a wonderful series.
