In the town of Name Pending, Wyoming, Elijah Potbury does brisk business as the territory's only practicing necromancer. For a reasonable fee, he'll raise any friend or family member.

Stories contained in this volume:

"The Automatons Who Ate Lead":

After convincing Potbury to resurrect two disembodied brains that are to be transplanted into automatons, the diabolical Mr. Seven uses them to kidnap Miss Henrietta. Potbury, with the help of his faithful gun hand, the late Nat McGrue, does everything in his power to thwart the scheming airship owner.

"The Hatching of the Wolf Spider":

The Wolf Spider, powered by a resurrected human brain, is the ultimate weapon of war. A large contingent of military and government guests is invited to the machine's unveiling. Mr. Seven is hopeful of making a handsome profit in future sales. It all goes wrong when the device runs amok and starts attacking everyone.

"Corpse Trouble":

When a client's resurrected sister is possessed by the spirit of a dead gunfighter, Potbury is called upon to convince the ghost to leave the body.

"The Evolutionizer":

Miss Henrietta inherits a device that can speed up or reverse the evolutionary process of any life form. Mrs. Broadhurst, acting against the advice of Potbury to allow an expert to examine it, insists on testing it herself, with terrible consequences.

"The Courtship of Miss Henrietta":

Mr. Seven presents Miss Henrietta with a new bonnet. Seven's true motives become apparent when the bonnet, which contains a mind-control device, is put on Miss Henrietta's head and makes her Seven's obedient slave.

"Gunfight at Six Thousand Feet":

A bounty hunter rides into town looking for a renegade. He soon learns that he's working as a crewman on the Azincourt. A gunfight between the two ensues high atop the gas envelope of the airship. A long plunge to the death awaits the loser.
