About this listen

“A totally new and original work that stretches his talents to their fullest...welcome back, champ!” (The Detroit News)

In the 23rd century, pioneers have escaped the crowded earth for life in self-sustaining orbital colonies. One of the colonies, Rotor, has broken away from the solar system to create its own renegade utopia around an unknown red star two light-years from Earth: a star named Nemesis.

Now a 15-year-old Rotorian girl has learned of the dire threat that nemesis poses to Earth’s people - but she is prevented from warning them. Soon, she will realize that Nemesis endangers Rotor as well. And so it will be up to her alone to save both Earth and Rotor as - drawn inexorably by Nemesis, the death star - they hurtle toward certain disaster.

I had no problem finishing this book. The twists were reasonable and rewarding. Some characters were more fleshed out than others, but I feel that's somewhat common in Asimov - every character doesn't have to have depth.

Scott brick is one of my favorite narrators, he doesn't try to do strange voices and I appreciate that.

Good stuff

On of the best science fiction novels of all time in my opinion. The way Asimov introduces the blend of Science and science fiction is just brilliant with a captivating plot that keeps you engaged the whole time. I can’t appraise the narrator enough. Scott’s narration brings text to life with no gimmicks or stupid accents.

Genius!!!!

I was very disappointed. I have read & enjoyed many of Asimov's books but the characters in this were so backward and lacking I want sure he had actually written it.

Isaac what?

The story, all in all, was really good. Some of the characters I did not like. The daughter should have been told that she did not know what could happen. I had a visceral dislike of the mother. The story, world building, and even the planet, were fantastic.

good story bad characters

I gave it four stars for performance because sometimes the narrator would slip out of a specific voice he was doing and into a more generic voice.

excellent story, good narration

Another great story from Asimov. Despite the claim of being “unconnected” to the Foundation series, he just couldn’t seem to help himself but make overtures to that world. Love it.

Story’s great and Scott does a great job reading it.

As with all of Asimov's novels, the character development and clear thinking throughout the story. One of his best.
