Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

He needed one more sale for his black ledger before he went home, but suckers in business suits were easy targets, especially at night, and it was getting dark. He could just go home, but it was Friday night, and that meant his mom—who lived in the apartment unit next door—would be liquored up and waiting to pounce with a barrage of obscenities directed at her mortal enemy: his wife.

Entertaining!
This was my first Antonio Nicassio's book. This thriller is entertaining, suspenseful, and captivating, filled with drama, and twists and turns. The characters are well developed. The plot is intriguing. Sam Williamson did a great job bringing this story to life. If you like thrillers filled with action, mystery, and intrigue, this one is for you!

Great first novel
The story is engaging with interesting characters, and some good twists that will keep you wanting to listen until the end. For a first time novel, it was well written and definitely recommend it to people seeking a good story and pace. I could definitely see this as being a movie. Looking forward to the next installment of this series.

An awesome 90s throwback crime drama!
I loved this book. Very entertaining to listen to, and mainly because it reads as such a visual, cinematic story — can’t wait to see the movie (someone in the indie film world needs to pick this up)!!
Right from the start, the story has a raw and gritty indie feel, with characters that you love to love and hate. Especially the villains, Lee and Amber; absolutely ruthless but you can’t wait to get back to any chapter that might involve them!
My favorite part is the ending, which I won’t ruin for you, but really took me back to some of the old spaghetti westerns that I grew up on. I know, I keep going back to films as a reference, and it’s just because the author is such a visual story teller. Very much enjoyed this!

loved the voice of the narrator, enjoyed the story.
I especially liked the characters with military skills and background. And that they prevailed over evil. I'll look forward to additional books which include Maggie as a hit woman!

The Thrill I Needed
Do you remember when you were a kid, and every one urged you to get on the roller-coaster you were so scared of? Then, as the ride ended, you realized you actually enjoyed the thrill. That's what this book does. The story is unpredictable and keeps you guessing along every loop of the ride.

Greed and justice
Wes did one tour of duty in Afghanistan and returned home to his future bride. He is contented with his life, working as a blackjack dealer and a part time gig at his father-in-laws cabinetry business. Wes’s former sergeant keeps asking him to join him working as a security ‘consultant’ for a drug kingpin but Wes wants to remain safe and honest. Things go south when his brother-in-law, and childhood friend, decide to rob a rich man. Unbeknownst to him, the man is connected to the kingpin. Wes and his wife get sucked into the ensuing life or death action.
Well written story with lots of action and dry humor. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Great narration.
