Jordy Jensen leaves active duty from his last assignment serving as an Air Force nurse at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. Mason Couper left active duty with the Marines two years before Jordy. Jordy showed up to his ranch while attempting to help Dusty the horse free his foot from a wire fence along the side of Eastlake Road. Mason lives with his grandpa where they run a horse ranch in the valley. Both young men, along with a few other veteran friends, have an assortment of emotional issues to deal with while trying to fit back into civilian life.

The budding relationship between Jordy and Mason is easy to follow, but the plot to murder Jordy is one that will leave you guessing until the very end. Follow the main characters from the foothills between Carson City and Reno, to the abandoned gold mines surrounding Virginia City and all the way to the top of Slide Mountain as they find each other regardless of the odds placed against them.
