Mr. Ron Thomas
About this listen
TOP DOG RADIO talks with Bud Konheim, a New York-based fashion guru who’s never at a loss for words, and three other leaders in the U.S. garment industry. Konheim is a partner with Nicole Miller, a leading designer (and company) based on Madison Avenue in New York City. Also taking part is Harold Lopato of Majestic Shape, Inc., which makes shoulder pads and other clothing accessories, and David Lee of KD Dids Inc., which specializes in dance and sportswear. Konheim discusses the growth of the fashion industry (including the media and trade associations), the significance of expanding your markets, seeing fashion as art, and understanding how “practical needs set trends.”
Lopato and Lee discuss the difficulties of competing with imported garments and clothing made in developing countries for a fraction of the price compared to the United States, how computer-aided design is revolutionizing the industry, and how to succeed through greater specialization. Collectively, these four experts have almost a century of experience in fashion design. Their knowledge provides young designers with what it takes to make it in an unbearably competitive industry.
TOP DOG RADIO features exclusive interviews with legendary business leaders, sharing their inner-most secrets on financial and personal success. TOP DOG RADIO is proud to showcase their expertise to entrepreneurs all over the world who want to learn leading business strategies and maximize their potential. We welcome any feedback. This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Those studying the garment industry
What was most disappointing about Ron Thomas’s story?
The title is totally misleading, I should have read the description. I was expecting a condensed history of the Nicole Miller fashion house, not a panel discussion on the state of the garment industry.
Did the narrators do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Yes, for those studying the garment industry in NY
