About this listen

Originally published by Random House in 1969, Nog became a universally revered cult novel and a symbol of the countercultural movement. In Rudolph Wurlitzer's signature hypnotic and haunting voice, Nog tells the tale of a man adrift in the American West, armed with nothing more than his own three pencil-thin memories and an octopus in a bathysphere.©2009 Rudolph Wurlitzer (P)2009 Audible, Inc. Eccentric Tour de Force

Although this work is a little like being in the mind of an autistic, it is a stimulating experience ( for the audacious only!) It is compelling, as it lends itself to a mental screenplay in spite of or perhaps because of its provocative, disjointed presentation. The narrator ought be applauded for a flawless rendering. I know that I will find myself in a minority with such a positive review; those who want a straightforward tale should steer away from the outrageous octopus. The curious should prepare to be stimulated or turned off--one extreme or the other!
