About this listen
"I don't care! I am NOT moving to Florida."
Parent's nasty divorce - Check
Dead relatives - Check
Moving 1,800 miles to the middle of nowhere - Check, Check, Check
Teen socialite Rian Callusa knows her privileged New York life is over as they drive down a backwoods road toward her new home. But instead of pulling up to a dusty shack, her jaw drops when her Mom parks in front of a stylish mansion. Maybe she doesn't know as much about her Mom as she thought.
While Rian spends time in the Everglades with her cousins, Travis and Sam, and falls head over heels for vintage-loving Justine, she learns it isn't just her Mom keeping secrets. They've all got secrets too. Until one fateful night, the dark, murky waters of the swamp decide to tell the story about what really happened on Old Palmetto Drive.

Listened to the whole thing from start to finish. Really enjoyed this journey to the Everglades.
The characters were compelling and the story kept me entertained.

Excellent Performance of an Excellent Book!
This is my second S.E. Reed book, and WOW—they just keep getting better! Teen Rian and her friends call themselves the NYPs (New York Princesses). Rian loves everything about being a New Yorker from her posh penthouse to her name-brand clothes. So she's obviously horrified when her mother tells her they are moving to the Florida Everglades to live with her newly orphaned teenage cousins she hardly knows. Rian has no idea what awaits her deep in the swamp—mystery, friendship, family, and maybe even love. Old Palmetto Road made me laugh and cry, sometimes on the same page. But by the end, my heart was absolutely full. S.E. Reed writes about Florida and its diverse populations of people and settings with humor, heart, and deep respect. I cannot express enough how much I LOVED this story!

Great book!
I really enjoyed listening to this book. The main character, Rian, felt so real and angsty. I loved seeing her growth throughout the novel and kept wondering what was going to happen. I also enjoyed the sapphic storyline. Great YA book for teens and adults alike. I can’t wait to read more of S.E. Reeds novels.
