About this listen
A reluctant Heir. A vengeful King. An alliance that could ruin them both.
Adeline never wanted the crown, yet she remains bound by it. A daughter of the Snow Queen, she must uphold the sparkling reputation of her kingdom until she earns the right to campaign for the throne—or the right to concede it.
But when royal tensions split the frozen lake at the heart of the kingdom, a dark King claws his way free of its icy depths.
And history is rewritten.
Kai has spent an eternity beneath the ice, with nothing but his rage to keep him warm. Now his only path to freedom lies in a false alliance with the descendants of his enemy. Deceiving them might be simple, even satisfying—if it weren’t for the lovely, roguish Princess Adeline and the warmth in her eyes when looks at him. As though she wants him. As though she trusts him. As though he could want and trust her too.
With loyalties divided and secrets buried in ancient ice, Adeline and Kai must decide how far they’ll go to protect the futures of their people. Is a kingdom worth the price of a frozen heart?
On Silver Winds is a fantasy romance with fairytale themes and a dash of spice. This is book one in the Duet of Snow and Silver.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

These beautiful, damaged boys saw me differently than the rest of the world. As much as I wished I could feel the same. I couldn't. These boys—men—had too much anger. Too much hate.

The characters… the setting… the drama!!
I devoured this beautifully written love story with a ferocity that I haven’t felt in years. The depth of the world and characters creates this wonderfully immersive escape, and there is a mystery that’s slowly and perfectly revealed as the pages turn.
I’m honestly a little embarrassed over how much and how many times I found tears rolling down my face. Ava Smiddy has a gift of writing love and connection in all of its beautiful forms; romantic, familial, and platonic, there were so many heart-wrenching moments to savor.
Besides the swoon-worthy Kai and charming Adeline, the side characters are incredibly lovable and unique. 💗
The romance? So good. The best kind of slow burn. Perfectly spiced, with no cringy words or overly-described scenes, Just total PERFECTION.
On Silver Wings belongs on every fantasy romance lover’s bookshelf and I’ll be desperately waiting for book two.
The narration is beautifully done! The narrator’s voice for male characters was really good and the accents worked perfectly in the story.
Highly recommend.
