 “I don’t know if it was the shouts, the gunfire, the dogs barking or a combination of all three which woke me, but the shock was such that I almost fell out of bed in my haste to rejoin the conscious. I was naked, save for the pair of shorts I always wore in bed, and had no time to dress. I didn’t bother with the light. The defence plan would swing into operation with immediate effect. I scooped up the AK-47 which was propped against the side table then hobbled into the corridor. I could hear gunfire outside, lots of it, some of it close. Bloody hell! Had the terrs broken into the compound?”……….
