Norman P. Grubb
About this listen
Norman Grubb, the son of an Irish clergyman, was born in England in 1895. He served as a lieutenant of the Bloucester Regiment, receiving the Military Cross for his service during World War I. Following the war, he attended Trinity College, Cambridge, and married Pauline Studd, the youngest daughter of the famous missionary C. T. Studd. The Grubbs served as missionaries in the Belgian Congo where Norman translated the New Testament into Bangala. After Studd's death in 1931, Norman served as British General Secretary of the Worldwide Evangelization Crusade until 1965. He continued to speak and travel well into his nineties. He died at age 98 on December 15, 1993.
Once Caught, No Escape is Norman Grubb's autobiographical account of his maturation from a young boy to a Christ-in-him faith life. As Norman once wrote of Once Caught, No Escape, "This little book is evidence that God can pick up weak things and use them - his strength made perfect in weakness."

Story
Who Am I? is one of Norman Grubb's textbooks for what he came to call Total Truth, a full satisfaction, a rational meaning to all life, a foolproof workable key to daily living, a road map that I could unfold to a fellow traveler and say, "This is the way". Standing on the Scriptures as his final authority, Mr. Grubb explores in a clear and practical way who we are, why we are, how we can be ourselves, and what our destiny is, which is "Christ in you, the hope of glory".

Norman Grubb's life demonstrated that he knew "how to walk the broad road of faith, how to save and maintain that touch with God, that living fruitful union with Him which in infinite grace and condescension He has given us as our inheritance in Christ." In The Law of Faith, Norman felt that he was "passing on to others the most precious secrets that God has taught [him]."

Larkin, through the story of his own past and the stories of those in The Samson Society, offers a radical, refreshing alternative.

Story
Pastor and bestselling author Greg Laurie was one of those fortunate few blessed with an insider’s view of Billy Graham’s world for more than two decades. With the same painstaking research and eye for detail that distinguishes his previous biographies, Steve McQueen: Salvation of an American Icon and Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon, Laurie now turns to the life of his beloved mentor, offering the intimate perspective of a disciple and friend.

Story
John Newton, Charles Simeon, and William Wilberforce suffered lifelong opposition and endured for the causes of gospel truth, missionary zeal, and political justice. They found, in solid doctrine and humble joy, the tough roots for habitual tenderness in response to their adversaries - without doctrinal or moral flinching. They are examples of remarkable grace. In the third book of the Swans Are Not Silent series, best-selling author John Piper looks at the lives of these three great men and how they not only endured great opposition but did so with joy and without bitterness.

Story
The Apostle Paul wrote his most personal letter while abandoned in a Roman prison, where he suffered abuse. He wrote to believers who lived in the shadow of the Roman tyrant Nero. And yet this letter, Philippians, is the most joy-filled epistle in the Bible. Weaving together modern stories and historical details, Dr. David Jeremiah explores Philippians verse by verse, showing us what it means to be joyful in spite of circumstances.
