About this listen

All of us are familiar with the fairy tales of youth where the young hero and heroine fall in love, defeat their enemies, marry, and live happily ever after. The fairy tales gathered here are about what happens next, when the Prince goes bald and the Princess has a midlife crisis. They portray middle-aged men and women facing the special issues dealing with crisis, aging and mortality, and the desire for renewal. Listeners will find that many midlife problems they thought were unique to our time are, in fact, timeless, and that their ultimate resolutions as described in these stories guide us through the peaks and valleys of midlife.©1992 by Allan B. Editorial reviews

We are all familiar with fairy tales where the dashing hero defeats his enemies and wins the hand of the beautiful princess. However, the fairy tales in this collection are about what happens next, when the prince starts losing his hair and the princess has a midlife crisis. Narrators Dan Keding and Janice Del Negro perform with a magical quality, and their thoughtful narration captures the moods of the stories, where middle-aged men and women face issues of mortality and renewal. Listeners will find the lessons in each story pertinent as these tales show what life is truly like.

Only the fairy tales are read, all of Dr. Chinens writings are left out. I ended up buying the paperback to make full use if this. I'm glad I did as it's easy to get lost in the fairytale and not be able to get all the wisdom out of them. The audio is kinda low quality too, needs redone .

beware, Audible doesn't fully describe it.

the audio quality poor. Narrators good
but again, poor audio makes it a difficult listen.

Great stories but…

Be aware! This is not the book but only the reading of the tales in the book. NONE of Dr. Chinen's comments are included. This is not at all evident in the description provided by audible.com.

However, after great disappointment, I found that I enjoyed hearing the stories as I read the book. And I would highly recommend the printed version of the book.

Not exactly as advertised

I really enjoyed the stories here, but the audio is pretty poor. It would be fantastic if it was re-recorded!

Good tales, poor audio
