Publisher's summary

From Hollywood to parish ministry, Once Upon a Nightmare: Through the Looking Glass of Narcissistic Abuse is a moving memoir that tells the tale of how a pastor's quest to fulfill the simple dream of happily ever after turned into an upside-down wonderland of narcissistic abuse, lies, and federal prison.

Through her artistic lens, the author delves into the complexities of her relationship, revealing the psychological dynamics of narcissism and its impact on her spiritual journey, including how the church both helped and hindered her recovery.

Weaving together faith and fairy tales, this is a haunting tale of what happens when your Prince Charming becomes the villain in your story, and why one should never settle for Prince Good Enough.

An Important Book, A Source of Hope

To be married to a narcissist and deal with all the pain, frustration and drama that comes with it is never easy. To relive it by writing a book about it is admirable and courageous. Rebecca J. Craig has done just that, guiding us through a life where the dream of a fairy tale life of romance, marriage and raising children is disrupted by a person who is incapable of real love and who inflicts his pain on everyone around him. Her fairy tale does have a happy ending, though, and anyone who is facing life with a narcissist should read it. Yes, some passages may be triggering, but I encourage you to stick with it. You will finish the book with a feeling of hope for your future, and that you are not alone. I was glad I chose the Audible version of the book; Rebecca does an excellent job of narrating, and hearing her tell her own story enhances its impact and the inescapable feeling of empathy a listener will feel.

Good Read!

Well documented read and might help others with similar situations. The last third of the book was too detailed.

Superb writing

This is a very well written book on a little understood topic. This book aptly explains the progression of the descent of a couple's relationship and the abuse that occurs. EVERYone should listen to this book, if not for yourself then for a friend/family member because you will most likely encounter this behavior sometime in your life.
