About this listen

In 1787 the United States agreed to count slaves as three fifths of a person and now over one hundred and fifty years after slavery ended African Americans are in some ways one eighth of White Americans, what went wrong. Racism and hate for the skin Black people are in has taken and still takes a devastating toll on African Americans in particular and other minorities overall. In the third decade of the 21st century open racial animosity was proudly being displayed and practiced. Black Americans were experiencing a backlash designed to push them back to a more subservient role in determining the direction of the United States. Jim Crow style voting laws were passed in certain states after the influence of Black voters determined the outcome of multiple elections, including the Presidency of the United States and a certain group of politicians were doing everything they could to prevent African Americans from wielding that much power again. While White politicians sought to cripple the ability of African Americans to vote, other racial explosions were taking place as Black people were continuing to be killed in the streets, in their vehicles and in their homes by law enforcement in blatant and shocking ways. The hate for the skin Black people were in was on full display and the question was why.
