About this listen
Cy has had his monster license taken away, and he has been reclassified as a Pirate, on account of him just being a normal guy with just one eye. The Pirates life is not for Cy so when an opportunity to get his license reinstated presents itself, Cy embarks on a quest, of some kind, with some people of some description, to get something or other.

Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. Laugh Out Loud Funny
I enjoyed this first book of the "One-Eyed Cy" series tremendously. Cy had his monster license taken away, so he set out on a quest to get it back. The story was funny; I laughed out loud. The humor was less vulgar than in some of this author's previous stories, although there were a couple of tiny slips, and therefore the whole story was more amusing to me. Lee Olson's narration was awesome. His performance was great, and his various voices, intonations, and inflections added that special something that made the story even more entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A great dark humor, adventure
Simon Carr wrote an amazing dark humor fantasy. Lee Olson did an amazing job on the narration. The story has it all adventure, dark humor, and action. The story is funny, interesting, entertaining, and enjoyable. When they say a pirate’s life for me, it doesn’t pertain to everybody. after the main character loses his monster hunting license, he is forced to be a pirate, but it isn’t for him. He then goes on a journey to reclaim what he lost. Will he do it or not? the story is well written. The characters are interesting and well developed. Can’t wait to read the next. I did get the book for free for a honest review.

Adventures Galore
I found this book of crazy adventures to be entertaining, funny, and full of colorful characters. The storyline and narration were phenomenal and on point with tones, accents, and pronunciation. One-Eyed Cy can unintentionally get himself into some pretty stinky situations that are just laugh out loud hilarious. I highly recommend this book if love adventure and winded God's. I received this book for free upon my request. I am so happy I did. I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased review here of my own volition.

An absurd romp through a fantastical world!
Simon Carr's "One-Eyed Cy Gets Something to Do," narrated by Lee Olson, is a rollicking adventure with humor that leaps off the page and into your ears. With Carr's witty prose and Olson's engaging narration, Cy's journey from disgraced monster to reluctant pirate to questing hero is a delightfully absurd romp through a fantastical world. Get ready for laughs, surprises, and a one-eyed protagonist you won't soon forget!

Politically correct.
One-eyed Cy. You're the man! So funny. Such quirky characters. I especially related to the dwarf. Oops! No. The normal sized guy only shorter. I am only 5 ft tall myself.
Lee Olson's performance of this story is just the best! He gives all the characters their own personalities and voices. I can't imagine how much duller this book would be just reading it myself. Lee knows these characters inside and out. 5 stars +++ for him.

A quest for antibiotics that’s hilarious.
This is my first experience with both Cy and this author, and I admit it won’t be my last.
Poor Cy, you would think a quest to get an antibiotic would be so simple, but fortunately for us listeners, it wasn’t. I giggled as Cy encountered nosy toads (I will fall asleep hearing the song “Who are They and Where are They Going” on repeat in my head.)
I learned a lot of things, like perhaps a pumpkin isn’t the best hostess gift to take to a party…or perhaps it is?
Some of the height jokes, size jokes and references to some things from World War Two and current events were a little over the top for me.
I adored the genie and was hoping to hear more about him, but perhaps on a future quest Cy will encounter the genie again.
It was nice to learn the difference between a Pixie and a Fairy.
I laughed at the pigeon ninja, “god of not choking on bacon rind”, the Scar/Mufasa reference, and so many other silly things.
At the end I was so thankful for time travel.
