Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Delightful!
I found this story absolutely delightful. It definitely provided many smiles and giggles throughout and Cameron and Val were a perfect pair. He certainly wasn’t what she was expecting and she wasn’t what he was either however fate always seems to have its way. Things don’t happen easily for them, but what’s the fun in that?! The fact of the matter is that the book is well written and totally enjoyable and well worth listening to. Logan McAllister, once again, does an exceptional job with the narration. Thank you Ms Collins for giving me the opportunity to listen to this wonderful book.

Wasn't Feeling the Narration
I listened to the audiobook and I hate to say it, but this was not one of my favorites. I still devoured it like I do all Aspen Cove books, but it didn't give me that Aspen Cove feeling I usually get when I am done.
I don't know if it was because of the narration or what exactly since I have not read the ebook. Cameron was supposed to be 32 yo and she sounded like a whiny college student in the audiobook. I thought the narrator made the character sound very childish and petulant. Even if she hadn't been allowed a level of independence for her age, I didn't expect her to behave like that.
She grew up around Hollywood. The fact that she didn't want to follow anything Valery asked her to do said a lot to me. Was her behavior supposed to reflect her "good girl" reputation? I wasn't sure, but it didn't come across that way to me.
I liked that Valery used his full name because his father had the same name. I did enjoy the part where he met with his mother and his siblings. I always enjoy the characters of Aspen Cove. I love how they look out for one another. I did like the way Valery softened up from being stern and grouchy.
I didn't get that sense of chemistry that I normally get between Valery and Cameron. It might have been because I didn't care much for Cameron's personality. II was still entertaining and I did listen to it in one sitting, or standing. It got me through my laundry, lol. I would give the audiobook 3.5 stars.

Dare to follow your dreams
This story introduces us to Cameron and Valery and the troubles they have getting to their destination, Aspen Cove.
Cameron just happens to be a Hollywood actress who is exhausted and unhappy.
Needing to relax and reevaluate her life she heads to Aspen Cove with Valery, her newly hired bodyguard.
There is tension between the two when they first meet but after going through a life threatening situation and then spending so much time alone camping together, truths are revealed and true feelings begin to develop.
When it comes time to leave and go back to their separate lives can they both admit how they really feel or will they just walk away from each other?
Valery was at times fun, grumpy, bossy, jealous but extremely protective of the beautifully kind and loving Cameron.
This was another Aspen Cove story that I absolutely adored.
I loved the storyline and enjoyed all the characters, past and present.
I listened to the audiobook that was narrated by Logan McAllister who once again did an excellent job of reading this story.

Wonderful addition to the series
I have come to love this series and once again, in this latest audiobook, we are transported back to Aspen Cove. A place where many go to visit or return after years away, never expecting to find love and a permanent home.
This time the story belongs to actress Cameron Madden and bodyguard Valery Armstrong.
Cameron’s latest movie didn’t do well, and after years of having people telling her what to do and when, she’s ready for a break. What better to place to recharge and “breath” than Aspen Cove.
Val/Valery has been given the assignment to be Cameron’s bodyguard while she’s in Aspen. Life has shown him expect the unexpected. So for this assignment he has prepared a list of rules for her to follow. Ha, a very bad idea on his part.
These two seemingly opposites, have sparks flying from the start.
Will they realize they are perfect for each other?
This is another winner in the series. Especially enjoyed “visiting” with characters from previous stories.
Logan McAllister did an excellent job with the narration.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
