About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The global bestseller featuring symbologist Robert Langdon, from the author of THE DA VINCI CODE Dan Brown.

Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconology, arrives at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of an astonishing scientific breakthrough. The evening’s host is billionaire Edmond Kirsch, a futurist whose dazzling high-tech inventions and audacious predictions have made him a controversial figure around the world.

But Langdon and several hundred guests are left reeling when the meticulously orchestrated evening is suddenly blown apart. There is a real danger that Kirsch’s precious discovery may be lost in the ensuing chaos. With his life under threat, Langdon is forced into a desperate bid to escape Bilbao, taking with him the museum’s director, Ambra Vidal. Together they flee to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch’s secret.

To evade a devious enemy who is one step ahead of them at every turn, Langdon and Vidal must navigate the labyrinthine passageways of extreme religion and hidden history. On a trail marked only by enigmatic symbols and elusive modern art, Langdon and Vidal will come face-to-face with a breathtaking truth that has remained buried – until now.

Go for this book without building the Da Vinci Code expectations.

It follows the classical Dan Bown style, the character (Dr Robert Langdon) is same, but please age him in your mind a bit as you may be seeing a young Tom Hanks. There is nothing novek Dr L does except think in symbols and images and numbers and phrases and codes....a little less than in other books as this time he has a mega supercomputer to assist him.

Dan Brown has the royalty of Spain entangled in this plot and awesome sounding Spanish locales are used for the plot to unravel.

Was I shocked with the end and what was revealed, no! But there was intrigue and suspense.

Go for it. Your credit will not be a wasted.

3 stars for the plot - But still a thriller!

Dan brown sticks to a winning formula, some might say it's gets a bit familiar but the research and story is top class. Robert, the female protagonist and the Assassin plus the twist at the end is all too familiar, you can see it all coming miles away yet it remains compelling.

Dan brown a winning formula

This book is worth reading because it has lots of ups and downs and intrigue. Brown's books are always unique, but this book is not as good as his others.

Another Langdon adventure story

when the climax hits, the big reveal is made, I was exhausted and totally underwhelmed. During the last 3 chapters the author redeems himself with an unexpected twist, but the unnecessary details until then were a bit much.

Amazing Narrator! crisp voice and kept me hanging on his every word. he made the book into a movie with his various accents. next time, I may just look for the narrator rather than the author!

The climax is the books anti climax

Dan Brown mixes just the right amount of drama, mystery, futuristic idealogies, historical ambiguity with a spice of factual flavour for this book!
Loved the story and loved the performance!

Incredible!

As always Dan Brown doesn't disappointed in weaving a realistic tale that is still fiction but seems imminently possible especially with the use of real locations and mostly real technology. And the introspection of humanity portrayed through the eyes and thoughts of Robert Langdon is stimulating at the least.

Brilliant story. Great narration.

Mr Michael narrated with talent. The story felt like a repeat episode of Brown's previous books though.

Entertaining but formulaic

I liked this book because it makes you wonder about the origin of universe. It is a work of fiction and that brings me the part where I didn't like the book as the content is pretty openly atheistic and some may believe it to be true even though current scientific research says otherwise.I would recommend it to people over the age of 16 as some themes and ideas are quite advanced.

A lot of twists.

The book is excellently composed with great detail and research to put together an intriguing master piece.

A well crafted story

Paul Michael through his narration keeps you mesmerized even through the various accents! This book would have been a dull one without his fluent shifts from Spanish to English accents.

Origin keeps you guessing till the very end
