About this listen

Between 1854 and 1930, more than 200,000 orphaned or abandoned children were sent west on orphan trains to find new homes. Some were adopted by loving families; others were not as fortunate. In recent years, some of the riders have begun to share their stories. Andrea Warren alternates chapters about the history of the orphan trains with the story of Lee Nailling, who in 1926 rode an orphan train to Texas.

Excellent historical story

Who could speak of a sad period in our history like one of the children who was pulled away from everything known to them and cruelly placed in the whole unknown. So glad this child got a good home, I’m sure many didn’t. Wonderful story to share with my 11 year old.

Unaware of Orphan Trains

This was very informative about orphans in the turn of the century it's amazing what people have endured and suffered and still came out as good human beings.

There are not enough St to properly rate the book.

Everyone should learn of the Orphan Train. Recently while attending a social garthering, I learned that one of my friends Grandmother was one of the Orphan Train riders. All kids need good families and a chance at a good life. All of us should strive to see that it happens. Thanks for publishing such a great little book!!!!

Pretty good 😊

I really like this book the reader of the book did very good voices and it was very imfortive and very good story my only complaint is that it says it’s one boy’s story while many children were involved and half of the story was also his brothers so that confused me but overall very pleasing and amazing 🤩

Success in some is much better than nine.

Stimulating, invigorating for the lost human spirit. Finding oneself helps me accept myself and cherish my gratuity I've been fortunate to live finding oneself gradually ... 64 today.
