Timely and entertaining.

I was given a a copy of this audio book for free in exchange for an honest review. And, I have to say, wow!! I really enjoyed this one. I like a lot of things like this, Clive Cusler, Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, even Robert Ludlum back in the day, and this had it all. Plagues, storms, fires, a bit of espionage, a bit of military, you name it, if you couldn't find anything to like here, you were in the wrong place. Bob Johnson's narration brought this thing to life and gave it that punch that it deserved to really get you sucked in. I wanted to see how all this unraveled, and there was even just a tad bit of emotion to make it even more real. This is a great book, and one that will stick with me for a while, just because of its timely manner what with our own pandemic, weird weather and climate stuff going on, it's one to make you think, and wonder. Are we all, Orphans of The Cauldron as the book states? Hmm. Time
will tell, and so will the planet. Right? Happy reading yall!!

Good warning to pay attention to

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a sci-fi book but it is very close to home with the current status of the world. The author kind of went "ok what is a topic? Climate change? Plague? Virus? Military? Dark side of human nature? Ok let's do them all!" He whipped out this puppy and oh boy, it was one heck of a ride. I loved this book from the first sentence. The narration was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. This is definitely an author to put on my "favorites" list.

Frighteningly insightful and prescient!

This book is so insightful and so prescient that it is frightening! Dan A. Borges has created a novel that twists and turns through the dynamics of a global power struggle and the ‘scrappy-ness’ of a not-so-far off future world in which the intergovernmental system is on the brink of total collapse due to the pressures of climate change. With a strong female lead (CIA), this story travels the globe encountering a world gripped with climate refugees and eventually a destructive pandemic. Sound familiar? The world will never be the same.

This is a must-read. The narration by Bob Johnson was quite enjoyable – especially for my first audiobook read. D.A. Borges combines knowledge and imagination to present an entertaining adventure – an adventure which should serve as a warning of the dire geo-political hazards associated with climate change if we do act immediately!

Great warning

Many continents and story lines all come together in a nice conclusion.
This book is a warning I wish so many could read. Sure it’s science fiction but the premise is based on our current world climate situation. If only Trump would read it.
Narration by Bob Johnson was very good.

Orphans of the Cauldron

This was a very good book.It had a lot of storylines, maybe too many, but it all came together in the end.A world on the verge of collapse from climate change, bad politics,a plague and very little done to stop it. Bob Johnson was a good narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

A winner for lovers of sci-fi

A very enjoyable sci-fi set in what could be current times. Well developed characters had me wishing I didn’t have to listen in a few hour increments. I love the fact that there were several strong female characters and one villain I loved to hate. The narration was top notch and really set the tone throughout the book. I would recommend this book to all lovers of sci-fi. I received this audiobook in exchange for leaving an honest review

Climate change

This book to me was mostly about climate change, and if you believe in climate change then you should read this book. I found it to be a lot about globalization maybe that’s not what it was about but it’s sort of what I took from it. All in all it’s a good it’s a good book I would read it if I were you.

Action-Packed, Current Day, Armageddon Story

If you are looking for an exciting, fast-paced Armageddon scenario, full of intrigue and deception and based upon current, real-world potential catastrophes....then “Orphans of the Cauldron” is for you! D.A.Borges has done a commendable job intertwining nearly all current-day possible catastrophes, with intrigue, spies, government corruption, and more. His knowledge of government operations is exceptional, which he frequently describes in thorough detail. I have to admit that the first half of this book was a ‘slow burn’ for me - in part because I don’t normally listen to audible books. That being said, the author goes to great lengths explaining technical, governmental and environmental details, but perhaps at the expense of character development. This minimized my emotional investment in the characters, at least until the final third of the book. By then, I was completely hooked and literally couldn’t stop listening until the exciting climax ending.

I think this story, as written, could be easily converted into a successful screenplay. With visual reference to the characters, my previous comment about character development would be ameliorated.

In its entirety, “Orphans of the Cauldron” was enjoyable and I look forward to other offerings by D.A. Borges.

Mixed

The story line itself was good, but the writing left me groaning. It was repetitive, over the top, and managed to talk down to the reader all at the same time. I really can't recommend this book, but the author shows a lot of promise for future works.

steer away frkm

story - blatantly political, far-fetched conclusions.
narrator- in love with his voice and modulation, no clue about the story at all. so intent on "interesting" voice he can't do any story shadowing, so he detracts from the story line. Will remember this name so I never hear it again.
