About this listen

"It is now abundantly clear that we have at our fingertips all of the tools we need to solve the climate crisis. The only missing ingredient is collective will.

"Properly understood, the climate crisis is an unparalleled opportunity to finally and effectively address many persistent causes of suffering and misery that have long been neglected, and to transform the prospects of future generations, giving them a chance to live healthier, more prosperous lives as they continue their pursuit of happiness.

Our Choice gathers in one place all of the most effective solutions that are available now and that, together, will solve this crisis. It is meant to depoliticize the issue as much as possible and inspire readers to take action - not only on an individual basis but as participants in the political processes by which every country, and the world as a whole, makes the choice that now confronts us.

"There is an old African proverb that says, 'If you want to go quickly, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.'

We have to go far, quickly.

We can solve the climate crisis. It will be hard, to be sure, but if we can make the choice to solve it, I have no doubt whatsoever that we can and will succeed."

OUR CHOICE

If you believe that global warming is real, you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Mr. Gore does an excellent job of explaining why the majority of scientists believe global warming is a manmade climatic event. In addition, he provides the reader with a detailed list of solutions to prevent further damage to our climate.

If you are one of those people convinced that global warming is a hoax, I would not waste your time or money on this publication. However, if you are still on the fence, buy, read, and learn.

A survey of potential solutions

Despite some of the data issues and poor statements of the past year, I continue to believe that climate change is occurring and is caused by man. I think erratic weather (especially weather extremes) is a symptom/result. Although I am not personally a huge fan of Al Gore, this book does a very nice job of exploring and analyzing numerous potential solutions. It assumes climate change is occurring. Strongly recommend it.

good for newbies

if your new to the issue of climate change (which at this point i don't see how you could be.) then this is great place to start your education. there is little in the way of "advanced concepts" but lots of good information presented in plain English. I think that will make it accessible to a wide range of folks who are just beginning to ask meaningful questions about climate change and our response to it.

compelling information needs better naration

the facts are global in impact. we are on the verge of consequences that can not be un-done.
all this is great but the narration is flat and frankly a drone. i have a hard time listening to this. the quality of audio production has moved past mere readers-except in this instance. i hope al gore would read the book himself. anyone but that narrator.
