When the love of his life goes missing, he'll risk everything to find her.

After Earl’s bride vanishes in the Smoky Mountains on their honeymoon, the former navy SEAL is certain she’s been abducted. Worse, a storm has washed away any potential evidence, and with nothing to go on, the park rangers call off the official search. Then another woman disappears in the same area. I felt so tense most of the story. The author writes relatable characters and I could feel their emotions. Steve Rausch did an excellent job on the narration.

Story was good but could have been longer. I was happy it went into some of the court action instead of just ending.

This is one of those books that is truly frightening because all of the most horrible parts are just too plausible.

I liked the plot and the premise. It got a big over the top once or twice, but those times increased the pace and the action.

The most memorable part though was the characters’ frustration and helplessness in the face of “the system”. Chilling.

Overall, a solid listen — but not just before a camping trip.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.

Fast paced and way too plausible

In Bill Briscoe's Panic Point (the 2nd book of the Pepperman Mystery series), Jim Pepperman is not the main character. Instead the focus is on Earl Helmsley. As newlyweds, Earl and his bride are camping in the Smokey Mountains. When his bride disappears, his life spins out of control. When his life seems completely hopeless, there is a knock on the door. Earl is offered another chance to find his wife. If you like action adventure with suspense added in, this is an Audible book for you. The narrator, Steve Rausch, pulls you into the story and let’s you share the experience.

Panic Point is a terrific story about a former Navy Seal, Earl, who takes his new bride, Morgan, on a camping trip for their honeymoon. The joy quickly comes to an end when Morgan is abducted from their tent. Earl spends the rest of the book searching for Morgan and her kidnappers.
The story is intense, action-packed, tender, and playful at times. Fast-paced, with interesting characters.
I have both the kindle and the audiobook of Panic Point and was concerned that the narration might not capture the emotion (I'm picky) but I was thrilled with the narration of the audiobook.

Great story! Highly recommend!

Pepperman’s Promise

This is the prequel to the Pepperman mystery series. Jim, is seventeen years old and suddenly charged with assuming the father figure for his two younger sisters when their father dies in a tragic accident. It becomes necessary to leave his home in Texas to return to the childhood home of his family in New Jersey. He misses his father immensely and his monophonic need for his father’s influence in making the right decisions leads him down a path of identifying and accepting responsibilities at an early age.
The author uses an abundance of colorful, colloquial expressions that accentuate his point. He has done a great job of describing scenes and circumstances drawing from personal experience or painstaking research of the subject. His unique style and imagination create intrigue throughout the story and entices the reader to “read one more short chapter.”

This is a fast moving, easy read with several alluring twists and turns that come together for a delightful conclusion and sets the stage for the next of the “Pepperman Mysteries”.

Excellent Read

Great story. It captured me from the first chapter in the Smoky Mountains. I appreciate the research the author did with the terms pertaining to the special ops scenes and the courtroom scenes. And, the narration by Steve Rausch made the already believable characters come alive. I’m happy to see this book on Audible and I'm hoping the author adds his other books too.

Good narration brought the tense of this story out, the plot was good, one can only imagine his fear, and how did it happen, well done. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
