Publisher's summary

Rick Mofina’s best-selling novels find an all-new urgency when coupled with pulse-pounding narrations from Recorded Books. In The Panic Zone, seemingly unrelated events bring the world closer to calamity. A distraught mother witnesses a stranger nab her infant. A bomb explodes in Rio. A cruise ship passenger suffers a horrific death. Caught in the middle, Jack Gannon is headed right into the panic zone—but the further on the edge, the hotter the intensity.

No accent v horrible accent

I have to ask if it’s worse to have a ghastly accent or having none at all. This guy has such a limited range he doesn’t even distinguish between men and women.
Not to mention that he will literally read what “she said in a heavy accent” with zero accent.

Nice voice but that’s about the most positive statement I can make.

An other great book by Rick Mofina

I found the books about Tom Reed and Walt Sydowski for free on Audible. I really liked that series. The books about Jack Gannon are free to listen to Audible at the moment.

I did listen to the first book about Jack Gannon but it's not necessary. You can listen to this book as a stand alone.

There are several plots that all come together in the end of the story. It would have been easier to read the book.

I used to take care of patients with infectious diseases when I worked as an RN so of course I liked the story :)

We don't need an evil genius... According to CDC 35 000 people die in the US from infections that can no longer be treated with the antibiotics we have! Sulfa and Penicillin has been available for less than 100 years.

I find both Jack and Emma annoying! Jack has information that would help catch the bad guys but he cares more about his story! Emma keeps repeating things instead of telling the police what she knows. She has the chance to record what someone is telling her but she doesn't. I liked Jack more in the first book.

The narrator was just reading the book. It was impossible to know if the person saying something was male or female.

Timely Story

Story line is very timely. Also very frightening if this is possible to accomplish! Very interesting and suspenseful. Narrator was not the best I’ve ever heard but he did the job and wasn’t difficult to listen to. Good read.

Enjoyed it but it could be shorter

This is my fifth RM’s book. I read all Tom Reed series before and loved it. This one takes 4.5 stars. I like how the author intertwines detective work and investigative journalism - he does that with skill.

Panic Zone is kind of a tall order, though, delivering a mystery that covers one too many characters and countries. I grew up in Brazil and can tell that he did his research when he described the people, the places. I knew he would tie them all together at the end - and he did, masterfully, but it felt a bit too long at times and that is why it’s not getting my five stars.
But since I like his style a lot, I’m going to read the other one in the series, In Desperation.

Narrator did a better job this time around

First book was painful with the performance, but this one was very well done by the narrator. Loved how everything tied together in the end.

I got so accustomed to Christian Rommel voice I had to adjust to this new narration.

Very entertaining

I like to listen to books that are long, complex, and employee many characters within the plot. If you are like me in this way, you would like this book

Thrilling

Kept me engrossed the entire time. Amazed at the details and multiple angles that were hit and all brought together in the end. Very enjoyable!
