Practical and Helpful Advice. Highly Recommend.

This book is a game changer! This was exactly what I needed. I'm a newish parent trying to figure out how to manage screen time without feeling like the "bad guy." Payne breaks things down in such a simple, no-nonsense way. She explains how tech affects our kids and gives super practical tips for setting boundaries that actually work.

I also loved all the ideas for activities that don’t involve screens. It’s not just about cutting back on tech; it’s about finding ways to connect as a family.

A lot of Great Information

There are many really good points in this audiobook. One in particular stood out to me: what your children are picking up on from you subconsciously and how that will naturally determine future behaviors. It has made me realise that as a parent I must be conscious of my behaviors and manage my state well. The narration is clear and positive but perhaps a little dry after some time. However, overall this book is strong and hold a lot of good information about how to set the right environment and how to establish positive rules and guides for technology so that screen time doesn't become all ruling!

screen time

I agree with this book that nowadays kids have way too much screen time and it is extremely harmful to them.

Necessary Information For Mental Health

Eliza Payne's Parenting Glow Kids is an excellent audiobook. She writes from a place of knowledge, compassion, and understanding. She makes it clear from the beginning that she has experienced what many of us have with the balance between the usefulness of technology and the crutch and addiction that it can become. She gives numerous tips and strategies to rein in the technology, such as using boundaries that need to be enforced, being on the same page with your partner, consistently implementing the actions, and replacing screen time with meaningful connective activities. She reminds us to reinforce the values we want our family to hold and experience. Highly recommend

clear strategies for managing screen time

"Parenting Glow Kids" is a practical and insightful listen for parents trying to balance technology and family life. The audiobook covers how screens influence kids and gives clear strategies for managing screen time while fostering strong relationships. I appreciated how it doesn’t demonize tech but instead encourages a balanced approach. The reflection questions and activities sprinkled throughout were a great way to pause and think about my own parenting habits.

The narration is easy to follow, though it can feel a bit monotone at times, which made it harder to stay fully engaged for over five hours. Still, the content is rich with actionable advice, and it gave me new ideas to try with my family. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the tech battle at home, this audiobook is worth a listen.

Balanced perspective encouraging “technology wise” lifestyle prioritizing relationship

I hadn’t heard the term “glow kids” prior to reading this books, but it refers to children growing up around consistent screen glow. I was really impressed with the balanced and thoughtful approach to this topic throughout the book. I love that it prioritizes a healthy relationship with your children as the guiding light throughout everything, and it also doesn’t try to suggest that 100% screen-free is best. Instead, it explains the benefits of being “technology wise” and providing meaningful technology experiences to your children.

The author of the book self-proclaims that she’s not an expert but rather another mom figuring it out as she goes. This brings a fresh perspective to the topic while simultaneously bringing in facts and research from a variety of sources. The audiobook also includes a PDF of the entire book in written formal which is a nice touch—helpful for being able to glance back at certain sections quickly. I’d certainly recommend this book to other parents struggling to determine the role technology should play in their children’s lives in this fast-paced technology-centric world.

Practical Advice for Parents

I've been struggling with managing my kids' screen time, so this audiobook really hit home. The narrator's warm, engaging voice made the content feel like advice from a wise friend rather than a lecture. I especially loved the reflection questions at the end of each chapter – they really made me think about my own tech habits, too. While some of the ideas weren't exactly new to me, the practical strategies and activities for getting the family off screens were super helpful. The narration quality is excellent, with perfect pacing that made it easy to absorb the information during my daily commute. This is definitely worth a listen for any parent feeling overwhelmed by their kids' tech use.
