About this listen

Neil Anders last moments should have come when he was involved in a high speed head-on smash with another car, but when he opens his eyes he is surprised to discover that he is lying on the ground surrounded by trees. This is the first of many strange events that befall him, for he soon discovers that everything is different, his clothes, his speech, his appearance, and the biggest shock of all is to discover that he is not even in his own body! But matters become stranger still when he meets a creature from a nightmare called a Rykor, and then in turn he meets a people of the forest called the Oromenii, and then yet more strange people called Horgers, and their masters, the Xurons. But when he meets Tara, he realises that she is different from everyone, and that they have a mission to fulfil, the recovery of a strange and powerful crystal. Behind it all, there is the mysterious Aledi. As Neil struggles to find answers to all the questions that keep piling up in front of him he has to face ever increasing dangers, until at last the full understanding of all his questions comes to him when at last he meets Aledi, a creature without form, the arbiter of his destiny, a being that gives him a choice such has never been given to any man on earth before. Revised edition – Sep 2014 Extract (From Chapter Six) The reason for the filed teeth was not hard to seek. A quick glance sufficed to show him something that he had suspected from what he had heard earlier from Ixl and the Oromenii and had not been able to pick out for a fact when he had made his earlier reconnaissance; around the fire were a series of roasting spits. Unquestionably several of these contained the remains of human beings, and scattered here and there were bones and joints of crudely roasted flesh of human origin. It was a sight enough to turn the strongest stomach. The air was heavy with the stench of burnt flesh, and some of the Horgers were still stuffing themselves with it as they gazed at the prisoners who had disrupted their festivities.
