great story

A student of mine recommended this book. As I have a long commute I decided to purchase this and kisten on my drive. i was sucked into the story. the only complaint i had was the ending was a bit weak. im not sure if there is a sequel. it would make sense to me if there is a sequel.

Great for a young-> mid teen.

Not really impressed with the narrator.
The story was interesting but I almost feel like the writer took the easy way out with the ending. it's a good book for a 13-year-old.

Strangely Good

This book was really quite good although certainly a bit odd.
Probably best fit in the YA genre but also Science Fiction. Loved the ending. Did not even have a clue as to what was coming.

Great Read

Planet Z was a great read by Kristen Middleton. The Human race has depleted most of the Earth's natural resources. Alexandra Logan and her little brother Jimmy, join their parents in a mission to try and save what's left of mankind. Her parents are both Planetary Astronomers. They need to bring back conclusive evidence that Planet "Z" can sustain human life. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Good YA story, so-so narration...

Planet Z by Kristen Middleton and narrated by Maren McGuire is a good YA story with so-so narration. Would recommend if you enjoy YA sci-fi. 4 stars for story, 3 for narration.

What’s it about? Alex and her family are sent on a mission to Planet Z which is said to be the last hope for humanity. However, the mission is not what they were led to believe and when the real reason becomes evident, the story unfolds quickly. You get aliens vs. humans, twists and turns (who can you trust is a theme throughout), friendships, and more. When I first start this, I honestly didn’t think I’d make it far into the book but glad I stuck with it because once the story unfolded it was a wild ride through space. The story itself is good and might have been great if there had been a different narrator. I struggled with the narration- character voices were not distinct and sometimes too monotone, but then there were times were it was OK. Perhaps this narrator just isn’t for me? With that being said, if the second book was out, I’d listen to it as I am interested to know how the story unfolds. Yes, the book is left open and is a semi-cliffhanger. Overall I recommend if you are looking for a YA sci-fi tale.

Aliens take over the humans bodies, drugging (a drug removes the aliens from the human bodies), child abuse (mother who is an alien attempts to strangle the child), erasing/implanting memories, kiss or a few between the two teen MC, use of a stun gun type weapon, physical fighting (self-defense), parents killed by aliens (mentioned several times). I do not recall any swearing.

YA sci-fi

Really enjoyed this audio. The story line was not your average Z book for sure. More alien, but great. Not sure if Kristen is planning a second, but I’d definitely get it.

Twisty YA SciFi

Be prepared as this really is a YA read with the requisite bad decision-making by young protagonists. It's good SciFi with plenty of plot twists which to keep our young heroes jumping. We have the evil bad guy who seems to hold all the cards, but will our intrepid explorers prevail?!? No spoilers here...

Okay story

This story was an okay read. It is on the shorter side so was quick. It was a little hard at times to follow on how things worked in the world or what was happening, didn't typically last long or be a huge issue it just kind of pulled me from the story and had me feeling like I had missed something. The story did keep my attention the entire time through, there were a few places where things felt a little rushed and I wish we had gotten more details during the end of the book. Things didn't feel entirely settled for me at the end, it felt like there could have been another book in the series but it does wrap up and have an ending. The characters were interesting and it wasn't a bad read, just needed a little more for me.
