About this listen
It's Player vs Player, the ultimate test where survival is the prize and each dawn a triumph. Death looms around every corner.
Seren awakens to a mysterious reality, devoid of her past, trapped in a maze where survival is her only escape. But the labyrinth is not her sole adversary; it's the other players that pose the greatest threat. She soon aligns herself with a motley crew of strangers, united by the shared determination to escape their prison. Together, they plunge headlong into a gauntlet of escalating challenges that pit them against the unforgiving environment, the intricate maze, and the ruthless competition of their fellow players.
As physical and mental trials chip away at their resolve, the group dwindles until only a resilient few remain. In this high-stakes game, failure equals death, and only success propels them forward to the next ominous trial. Each twist and turn reveals new perils, whether it be a lurking threat or a cunning opponent ready to sacrifice others for personal gain.
Amidst the ever-present danger, Seren and her companions grapple with the haunting question will they conquer the maze and emerge victorious, or succumb to the same fate that has befallen countless others?
Player vs Player Book is a riveting thriller from the bestselling author of The Void Wars, Star Crusades, The Iron Fortress, and a catalogue of gripping novels that takes listeners on a relentless journey where survival is earned with every heartbeat and the price of failure is steep.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. Play the Game or Make the Ultimate Sacrifice!
This story grabbed my attention from the opening paragraphs until the very end, and I could not draw myself away until I had heard the whole audiobook in one sitting. I liked the structure of the story where I became familiar with the characters and then slowly learned their histories. I enjoyed the almost non-stop action. I liked that I never knew exactly what would happen next. I enjoyed Caleb Schroeder's narration, and I thought his performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which included my honest opinions regarding this story.

This had me absorbed from start to finish.
I felt every bit of Seren’s fear and hope, like I was right there with her in that maze. The twists and betrayals kept my heart pounding—I couldn’t stop reading, even late at night. This story made me question who I’d trust if my life was on the line. It’s powerful, gripping, and makes you feel every moment. If you want a book that truly gets under your skin, this one is it.

An Unputdownable Survival Thriller
What truly makes this book a standout is the dynamic team Seren builds along the way, a group of strangers who have to navigate the labyrinth’s deadly twists and grapple with the choice of trusting one another—or not. The layers of tension as alliances form and dissolve are as thrilling as the brutal physical challenges. Seren herself is a character you root for, smart, gritty, and deeply resilient, with a vulnerability that makes her feel real and relatable even in such an extreme setting.
The author’s vivid writing made me feel like I was right there, surviving each dawn along with Seren. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what horrors awaited around the next corner. Player vs Player delivers a suspenseful, darkly imaginative world that’s part thriller, part psychological mind-bender. If you love survival stories with a cast of complex characters and unexpected twists, this is a must-read.

My kind of book!
I love intense action packed fiction books, and I also love mazes! This book is incredible from start to finish and I love how the characters have to work together in order to overcome obstacles. What puts this book over the top for me is the phenomenal character development and the situation they find themselves in.
