About this listen
Online, influencer Abby Allerton is savvy, relevant, and empowered due to her Instagram profiles Plus-Size Real and Femme Fatale, but IRL not so much—she’s sadly stagnant and in need of an upgrade.
When the #BTSPFW invite drops into her inbox, Abby can’t help but say, “Oui, oui, this is for me!” and do whatever it takes to get on the next plane to Paris for an exclusive behind-the-scenes Fashion Week event!
As she navigates Paris with all the culturally perceived imperfection she seems to embody, Abby feels thrown into the catacombs of body image. Determined to be unabashedly herself, she ends up making friends in haute places, and it turns out Abby might just have what it takes to launch a couture coup d’etat!

I wish everyone read this book. Vive la révolution !
PS: oh, and the therapy sessions are gold!

A second read always reveals more of a story, and I loved experiencing the characters’ voices in my ears this time. The audiobook got me thinking about Abby and her friendships, both new and old; the concept of influencers; and the beauty (and delicious tastes!) of Paris.
I loved seeing (or hearing, this time) how Abby’s navigating and exploring played into the story. I also noticed, while listening, how much a character’s decision to connect (or not) with another could create ripples of events (or not). It made me think about how much of life boils down to kindness and taking a chance on each other.
Thank you, Erin, for this uplifting story, and another way to experience it.
