About this listen

Alexander Price has survived gorgons, basilisks, and his own family - no small feat considering that his family includes two telepaths, a reanimated corpse, and a colony of talking, pantheistic mice. Still, he's starting to feel like he's got the hang of things - at least until his girlfriend, Shelby Tanner, shows up asking pointed questions about werewolves and the state of his passport. From there it's just a hop, a skip, and a jump to Australia, a continent filled with new challenges, new dangers, and yes, rival cryptozoologists who don't like their "visiting expert" very much.

Australia is a cryptozoologist's dream, filled with unique species and unique challenges. Unfortunately it's also filled with Shelby's family, who aren't delighted by the length of her stay in America. And then there are the werewolves to consider: infected killing machines who would like nothing more than to claim the continent as their own. The continent which currently includes Alex.

Survival is hard enough when you're on familiar ground. Alex Price is very far from home, but there's one thing he knows for sure: he's not going down without a fight.

A wonderful time as always

Any additional comments?

Australia = a whole entire universe of no for Alex Price. This was a fun outing and thoroughly enjoyable.

Basically Seanan Mcguire very rarely goes wrong and this is not one of those books.

Interesting story despite Aussi stereotypes

It was a fairly decent story. While the author clearly knows no more than stereotypes about Australia - eg everyone eating mutton stew - it was mostly saved by completely ignoring real Australia and focusing on the authors "cryptids" and the"36 society". I did cringe a bit at the mention of the TSA in an Australian airport - TSA is not the generic term for any airport security. I would like to see more InCryptid books set in Australia but the author really needs both early Australian input and proofreaders and preferably at least an Australian holiday first. Regardless it is a good book and I would recommend it and will probably listen to it again.

Another great Cryptid Adventure

Out of all the Price children Alex is my favorite. His story was the first I read in the series and I love his unique scientific approach to things that his sisters lack. Hope to read another Cryptid book staring Alex in the future.

Good, but with rocks to steer around

I continue to greatly enjoy this series. I'm glad I bought this book and I'll listen to it again, no doubt. It has the same great characters, interesting world, fast moving action, and elevating humor of all the others. Unfortunately, it also has one theme that gets such repetitious and weighty treatment it nearly becomes a stumbling block, making it harder and harder to relate to the supporting cast of characters, unique to this volume so far, and thereby harder to care about the outcome of the story arc. At times I found myself wanting the main characters to abandon the mission. I won't say it lacked realism in this expression, but it became excessive. This did not prevent the book from reaching a fine and satisfying ending. I am greatly looking forward to more books in the series!

The reader delivers another fine performance, pushing me to look for other audiobooks read by him.

A great series!

This is a must read for paranormal fans. Every protagonist has a unique signature. Consider a family of protagonists, 3 kids, each with a different talent. The commonality is the mission of the family. This is one series that you really don't have to read it in order. The plot centers around a different sibling and how they combat difficulties in support of the Price family mission.

The word is set in contemporary America but there are many and varied sentient beings. Respecting and preserving the rights of those beings is the mission of the family. The antagonist are those that believe unless beings are "human" they don't have a right to exists.

Yes, you have a clear cut human rights situation, but it is presented in an entertaining manner. How can you side with people who don't believe in rights for all? McGuire does a great job in providing an assortment of sentient beings to enjoy.

I really would like a story which shows how the kids were raised. You get glimpses as each sibling recounts their history, but I want more.

Enjoy the series!

A terrific Installment to a fun series

The fourth installment is the second adventure featuring Alexander (Alex ) price traveling to Australia to deal with an outbreak of werewolves which could devastate the continent. What happens to him, Shelby-his girlfriend and even a splinter Colby of the Azalyn mice that MUST go with him will change things forever!

Best of the bunch.

Would you listen to Pocket Apocalypse again? Why?

Yes. I like the world and love the humor and many of the characters - and adore the mice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

For some reason I am drawn to the scene after the initial werewolf attack where our hero tries to save his partner and himself.
