POLITEIA (Teil 15 der sämtlichen Dialoge)
Die Politeia gilt zu Recht als das Hauptwerk Platons, bringt er doch darin die verschiedenen Themen und Ergebnisse seines bisherigen Philosophierens nun zu einer großen Einheit. Dabei fasst Platon nicht weniger als den Entwurf eines idealen Staates ins Auge. Die den gesamten Dialog in Bewegung haltende Frage lautet dabei: Was ist Gerechtigkeit? Während die sophistische These behauptet, dass das Gerechte das dem Stärkeren Nützliche sei, setzt Platon dem die Idee eines sittlichen Staates als einheitliches Ganzes entgegen, in dem die Herrschaft von der vernunftsgeleiteten Erkenntnis ausgeht und diese denn auch den Zusammenhalt des Staates garantiert.
In keinem anderen seiner Werke entfaltet Platon so umfangreich die Grundzüge seiner Ideen- und Erkenntnislehre und deren metaphysische Voraussetzung: Der Idee des Guten; und so bietet sich die "Politeia" als hervorragender Einstieg in die Philosophie Platons an.
Dieses Hörbuch umfasst die komplette Lesung der ersten drei Bücher des insgesamt aus zehn Büchern bestehenden Werkes. Zusätzlich dazu findet sich als Begleitmaterial ein Aufsatz des namhaften klassischen Philologen Ulrich von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff über den griechischen und platonischen Staatsentwurf.
